Biography

Devotion. Faith. Abandonment. The ecstasy of salvation, the salvation of ecstasy…
There’s a thin line between rock ’n roll and religion, and nowhere thinner than in the intense, sharp, sweat-drenched, dueling-guitar euphoria of Mona. The Nashville four-piece band – or family, or gang, or band of brothers – are young, charismatic punk preachers. They’ll ... Read more in Amazon's Mona Store

5.0 out of 5 stars My faith in music is restored! 18 May 2011
By Martin
Format:Audio CD
Ive been lucky enough to see these guys four times in the past six months . I pretty much knew every track on the album from the live shows.

Music releases of the past few years have been so very flat with a predictable formula, I've been waiting for a band to monopolise nmy stereo for too long now. The wait is over!

Mona's debut album is return to rock and roll anthems of the past , roaring anthems that leave reaching for the repeat button , your leather jacket and a bottle of jack daniels.

Nick Brown is enigmatic with a searing voice and a hell of an ear for a melody.

I would list stand out tracks but to be honest they are all stand out tracks . Particualr attention should be paid to Lines in the sand , lean into the fall and say you will

Comparisons will be made to the Kings of leon but I'm afraid the kings may be knocked of their thrown in coming years. But you have been warned purchase of this album may result in the urge to wax your hair back , buy raybans and wear skinny jeans

I'm not usually that bothered about writing reviews because everyone has their own opinions and are entitled to them quite frankly. However, I felt compelled to write something in support of this absolutely fantastic debut album by MONA. Even though it was only released yesterday, I can't believe how nobody has written in already to confirm it's brilliance.

I first saw them play on Later with Jules Holland last year and thought they had something about them, certainly had an energy that's quite rare in bands of today. They really seemed to have a passion for what they were peddlin, so to speak.

Without going into review mode and comparing them to other bands etc, I will say this. It's the best 35 minutes and 18 seconds of Rock N Roll I have ever heard!. The repeat setting is now stuck on my cd player, it's been played that much in 24 hours.

Right, now to go and find somewhere to see them Live in the UK.

Oh yeah, don't forget to crank it up to 11!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Mona, Incredible album. 4 July 2011
Format:Audio CD
Mona could be described as a young, modern and in my opinion better version of the rock legends U2, with Nick Brown having an incredible rock voice and great guitar talent, he sets the stage for some amazing rifts from lead guitarist Jordan Young as well as superb bass lines from Zach Lindsay, and outstanding beats from Vince Gard, songs such as 'shooting the moon' and 'say you will' stand out lyrically and instrumentally for me, although you couldn't fault a single song, the raw grunge of 'shooting the moon' and then the softness of hidden track 'alibi' show the vast array of talent this band has, from music paradise Tennessee this band has a lot more to come I'm sure. after discovering them whilst they supported Kings of Leon on the UK summer tour, who them selves were the support act for Mona's sound alikes U2, but being introduced to such an amazing band live in front of my eyes certainly drawn me in before buying this album, and of course the purchase was certainly worth it, if you enjoy great rifts, a fiery voice, an amazing rock band waiting to be discovered by the world! a band who have gone back to basic and done it so much better, an overall view, I'd say this is the best album I have listened to since I first discovered the kings aha shake album, and I'm sure a rock fan of any age is going to like this album. incredible album, a must buy.
