Product Description

Sixteen years ago, Helena Shea was an up-and-coming
fashion model, until an affair with a married man, an unexpected
pregnancy, and a drug scandal cost her almost everything. Now CEO of her
own modeling agency and founder of a home for wayward mothers, Helena
has spent years trying to atone for her sins...but with just one
horrifying phone call, they come rushing back again.

A depraved killer has set his sights on Helena, seeking vengeance
for the day she robbed him of his only chance at happiness. Now he
plans to return the favor--by kidnapping Helena's estranged daughter,
Frankie. To save her, Helena must face the demons of her past, joining
forces with her former lover and the journalist who nearly ruined her,
embarking upon a terrifying game of cat-and-mouse. Mommy, May I? transports
readers into the deepest, darkest corners of a killer's mind, a
twisting psychological thriller that will resonate long after the final
page is turned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good solid read 27 May 2011

I started out by reading 'Daddy's Home' and enjoyed it so much that I gave this one a go. Am so glad I did. None of the usual dragging out the story as you get with some books. This is a fast moving novel with suspense and a good solid story. I read this book in two days and found it hard to put down. Can't wait for the next book.

2.0 out of 5 stars average and non scary 1 May 2013
By Sian Louise VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
Rated 2.5 stars.

I found this to be an average read. Nothing too exciting here, I didn't find it scary like the synposis made it out to be.

I didn't particularly find any of the characters likeable, maybe it was because this book didn't go into any real depth or background of the characters, it was hinted that but nothing definate was explained and the only past story we got was Richard the killer.

I also didn't like how Helena kept having to "fight" her feeling for Patrick. I mean really? he had an affair with you, got you pregnant, proceeded to convince you to give your child up and then seemed to let his wife treat the daughter like c**p for years?!? Surely all that should have killed off all romantic feelings. Maybe I am just someone who holds a grudge but to me there is no way after all that, I wouldn't remotely want to be with this man.

I would have liked a few more details on the FBI guy but again details was sadly lacking here, and again for someone supposedly still heartbroken over his murdered wife, he got with Claire the journalist pretty darn quick and without must explanation, one minute they weren't together, then they were.

To be honest, the most interesting character of this book was Richard the killer. His reasoning for the grudge against Helena were a bit off but to be honest most reasonings of a serial killer are dodgy so I can let this one go.

I have read others from this author (i cant remember what of the top of my head) and I know I enjoyed them more than I did this one. In fact with this review I have talked myself down from a 2.5 star rating to a 2. The things I have listed above just really annoyed me and the story didn't really come together like it should have for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it! 30 May 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Okay, so I have to say that I was a sceptic when I started reading my favorite author as A.K. Alexander. I am not one for all the horror and gore of things, but I am pleased I have given this book, and Daddy's Home and The Cartel (my favorite of A.K.'s three books) a try.

Mommy, May I? is about Helena Shea who has some ups and downs in her life and she wants to get things back on track. She is attempting to make ammends in her life and forge relationships she needs in her life. She is an interesting character with faults I think most of us can relate to. When a serial killer enters her life, she is unaware until a murder leads back to Helena and then her sixteen-year-old daughter Frankie (I have to say that Frankie is as strong of a character as Helena. I enjoyed reading her scenes very much) is abducted by this guy. There is intrigue, drama, some romance, and a mystery that has a surprise ending. I never would have guessed what was going to happen.

I personally enjoy A.K. Alexander as Michele Scott. I met her once at a writer's conference and had read her books. She is a lovely person and I admit I am her biggest fan. I think so anyway. I very much enjoy her mysteries, but these books are just as good, just a bit scarier and darker than her usual stuff.

1.0 out of 5 stars dull 28 Mar 2013
By Miss Denny S. Taylor VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
I just didn't buy the storyline here. The dialogue is just boring, just not what I would call chilling either. Even the charcters are poorly constructed. Could have been a good novel for the right writer. If this is writing hand me a pen I can do better!

Incredible from start to finish couldn't put it down. This author really has a way with words and her ability to develop and change your opinions on certain characters was so refreshing. And loved the twist.Recommend this to thriller fans and for the price be crazy not to purchase.

Passes the time. Readable but a little formulaic and somewhat predictable. Inoffensive, and bland on the whole. But hey, it was only 75p.

The story was a bit slow, and tended to move back and forth too much for my liking, however it is an easy read.
