I've been waiting for this album for a long time and I'm not disappointed, Camilla described it as inspired by Enya and Kate Bush and you can definately hear these influences, but at the same time its different to the things that other classical crossover singers are doing at the moment and it does not sound like a copy of any one style.
Track by Track:
1. Moments- the music to this is Art of Noise's Moments in Love- I was only vaguely aware of this music before I heard this song and having listened to both I love both. I love the feel of this song and the arrangement, a great start to the album 5/5
2. El Corazon- this is very relaxing a great cross of a classical sample (O Euchari) and new lyrics- great orchestration and it's great to hear Camilla use her lower register as I love her high notes, but this shows how versitile her voice is 4.5/5
3. This Woman's Work- I Love this song- a cover of Kate Bush and this style really suits Camilla's voice, she sings with so much emotion, I have yet to listen to this song without crying 5/5
4. Sleepsong- orginial song written by the same person who wrote 'You Raise Me Up'- it sounds very folk like which is great because it suites Camilla's voice- love the melody and the fact that you hear so much of her amazing high range 5/5
5. Be Your Rescue- more poppy of the album, but still a bit Enya like- not a bad thing- not my favourite, but still good,it has a great message in the lyrics, might need to grow on me 3/5
6. Restless Warrior- I am a huge Einaudi fan and this is set to Le Onde which is probably one of his most famous songs and I am usually against putting words to things that don't have them originally, but this is well thought out- it is not a cover for the sake of a cover- the lyrics and vocal line get across the idea of longing that the song provokes and none of what make the original so good is lost 4.5/5
7. Snow on the Roses- again a more pop sound, almost musical theatre, can't decide on this one, could be a grower, relaxing quality 3/5
8. I Go To Sleep- This is a cover and very well done too 4/5
9.Let Go- This has a lovley melody and backing harp, its is well layered as far as orchestration goes, again relaxing and Enya, but with a classical twist to it 4/5
10.Surfing in the Air- This is very interesting, its the lyrics to walking in the air from the snowman which is a song I hate to tell the truth, but what has been done to it is very interesting, it's alot more atmospheric and the vocal line is much better. I think any change to the original is good- love this 5/5
11. Bring Him Home- this is from Les Miserables which Camilla peformed in, but not this part as it is a man's song, but it is also very high for a man and so suits Camilla's voice perfectly and this is a very good and emotional version and refreshing to be sung by a woman 4/5
12. Who Wants to Live Forever- Cover of the Queen song- still in the chill style, but also atmospheric melody is amazing, but it is Queen so has a great effect on the listener 3.5/5
This all in all, is better than her first album and I urge everyone to buy it, if you haven't heard of Camilla now is the time! this is an amazing album, it works really well and is very cohesive and a joy to listen to, buy this and you will not be disappointed
