Biography

In the early 1960s, a bunch of boys from Cambridge began jamming together, and out of those encounters were born the early incarnations of Pink Floyd. More than 40 years and 150 million album sales later, the band headlined the biggest global music event in history – Live 8 – and was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame. You could say the Floyd has staying power.

I remember rushing out to buy this album, I'd be 16 and had gotten into Pink Floyd in a big way. There are a lot who don't feel this is a Pink Floyd album but for me it is.

There is classic guitar work from Dave Gilmour and both Nick Mason and Richard Wright perform on the album and the following tour of which I was lucky enough to see twice.

Some of the songs feel like they are trying too hard to be Pink Floyd, however 'On the turning away' is a great song worthy of any Floyd album. If I need to get away from the world this is still the album I turn to, very relaxing and you seem to drift with it.

Well worth a listen.

Love this album! remastered version sounds epic! packaging is what it is and i now have so many cardboard digi packs in my collection that i'm used to it (other reviewers aren't keen it seems). I bought this one for the sound and it is lovely and crisp. certainly updated from the masters and a lot clearer than the 90's copy I own.

This is not my favourite floyd album by any stretch...but its still better than most bands worst album..and the new remaster as another reviewer mentioned the sound quality is awesome...and i also agree that the packaging doesn't bother me...its the music i listen to and not the cardboard! The sound quality on here is as crisp and sharp as you can get...to my ears anyway..a job well done in my opinion!
