Product Description

Perhaps Metallica are to blame. When they decided to tour with an entire symphony orchestra and release the result as an awesome live album (1999's S&M), little could they know that they would inspire others to follow suit. With Moment Of Glory, German poodle rockers the Scorpions have done just that. Unfortunately, where Metallica's collaboration with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra added new levels of immensity and menace to some of their best tracks, the Scorpion's collaboration with Berliner Philharmoniker only comes out sounding rather tepid. New song "Moment Of Glory" comes across all Disney, especially when the children's choir kicks in, while Zucchero steers the once-proud rockers down the middle of the road when he guests on "Send Me An Angel". Only "Hurricane 2000" (a new version of "Rock Me Like A Hurricane") displays any of its former rocking grandeur. Bassoons don't rock. Neither do flutes, or piccolos. It's obvious to the rest of the world, so why did nobody inform the Scorpions? --Robert Burrow

Amazing. Neither the Philharmonic nor the Scorpions themselves spoil either sound, a perfect blend of 2 original styles - a perfect gel! A must see live!

5.0 out of 5 stars musical moments of glory 4 April 2004
Format:Audio CD
an excellent fusion of rock, pop and classical music by the German rock band Scorpions and the Berliner Philharmonic.from the first track rock you like a hurricane this album takes you on a wonderful musical journey-a combination of excellent rock musicianship with a classical treatment of some of the groups best work.some beautiful melodies-notably send me an angel provides the listener with an excellent listening experience.highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Scorpions ***** 15 Jun 2005
Format:Audio CD
While I agree with Robert Burrow (amazons reviewer)that perhaps Metallica may have done it first, the problem with S&M is that at times the Orchestration seems in conflict with the band and doesn't compliment what is being played, and comes across sometimes as rather a mess.
Altogether different with this from the Scorpions, the orchestra gels and compliments the band AND the songs that are included....if you like melodic string sections that compliment popular rock music, this is the one!!! I have owned this CD from the first week and haven't stopped playing it since its release.
