Product Description

Perhaps Metallica are to blame. When they decided to tour with an entire symphony orchestra and release the result as an awesome live album (1999's S&M), little could they know that they would inspire others to follow suit. With Moment Of Glory, German poodle rockers the Scorpions have done just that. Unfortunately, where Metallica's collaboration with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra added new levels of immensity and menace to some of their best tracks, the Scorpion's collaboration with Berliner Philharmoniker only comes out sounding rather tepid. New song "Moment Of Glory" comes across all Disney, especially when the children's choir kicks in, while Zucchero steers the once-proud rockers down the middle of the road when he guests on "Send Me An Angel". Only "Hurricane 2000" (a new version of "Rock Me Like A Hurricane") displays any of its former rocking grandeur. Bassoons don't rock. Neither do flutes, or piccolos. It's obvious to the rest of the world, so why did nobody inform the Scorpions? --Robert Burrow

Amazing. Neither the Philharmonic nor the Scorpions themselves spoil either sound, a perfect blend of 2 original styles - a perfect gel! A must see live!

an excellent fusion of rock, pop and classical music by the German rock band Scorpions and the Berliner Philharmonic.from the first track rock you like a hurricane this album takes you on a wonderful musical journey-a combination of excellent rock musicianship with a classical treatment of some of the groups best work.some beautiful melodies-notably send me an angel provides the listener with an excellent listening experience.highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Scorpions ***** 15 Jun 2005
Format:Audio CD
While I agree with Robert Burrow (amazons reviewer)that perhaps Metallica may have done it first, the problem with S&M is that at times the Orchestration seems in conflict with the band and doesn't compliment what is being played, and comes across sometimes as rather a mess.
Altogether different with this from the Scorpions, the orchestra gels and compliments the band AND the songs that are included....if you like melodic string sections that compliment popular rock music, this is the one!!! I have owned this CD from the first week and haven't stopped playing it since its release.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moment of Glory 7 May 2004

After the first couple of tracks I thought, mmm, not sure about this but I'll try it anyway. Now I've owned it for 36 hours, played it a dozen times, try and take it off me if you dare! This one's in my collection to stay (and in my head too). Absolutely brilliant!

The best of sound and rhythm. A perfect compilation, well mastered and engineered by both the groups. My ever best collection this. Thank you SCORPIONS for giving me your very best. I breathe everyday listening to this. I enjoyed your show in Bangalore 2001 and thank everybody, the band and the technicians for putting a mind blowing performance. Also thanking SCORPIONS for their authographs. Awaiting your new Album "ROCK". All the best. Will remain your fan forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Album! 26 Sep 2000
Format:Audio CD
Just a few lines to add to the other reviewers. This album is just fantastic. The presentation on all of the songs is superb - notably on Hurricane and Winds of Change. My only small gripe is that I could have done with another 3 or 4 songs being re-visited at the same time. Suggestions anyone?

5.0 out of 5 stars Scorpions at their best 23 July 2000
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Metallica were the first to use the Philarmonic... But Scorpions know how to play with! Metallica used the orchestra as accompaniment, and Scorpions used it as a member of the band... The songs are really different, and the orchestra really gives a different view of the Scorpions art... I particulary like Hurricane 2000, Send me an Angel, Wind of Change and Crossfire. The guitar solos are still outstanding and really impressive. Just one song didn't take me to the 7th sky: Moment of Glory. Last but not least, the Zucchero participation on Send me an Angel really impressed me! When I first listened to this album, in a shop, I didn't move from there for 1 hour: it was so good. A must to buy if you like music!
