An out of work actress decides to act as an experienced housekeeper in order to get a job, only to discover the butler is doing exactly the same thing. Their employer, Mr Graham, a divorced and retired politician who is estranged from his son needs his life shaking up, something Molly is more than capable of doing.

I enjoyed many films of Monty Woolley. So I bought this one at amazon.uk. What a deception! The DVD transference is of a very substandard type. Images are fuzzy. At some point the images disappeared for a few seconds from the film. The sound not upto the mark.
TheElstree Hill Entertainment should be ashamed of itself for offering such a shoddy product to the public. And why the amazon.uk does not take out such products from its catalogue?

What a welcome to see a Gracie Fields film on Dvd, a later film from 1945,non the less a real family film, a rarity these days. This film was the follow up to Holy Matrimony 2 years previous, and again with Monty Wolley. Gracie an out of work actress takes a job as a house keeper, with mayhem laughs and a young Roddy mcdowall, from Planet of the Apes fame tender moments as Gracie tries to bridge the gap between the emotional son, played by Mcdowell and the very stern father Wolley, songs include: Christopher Robin is Saying His Prayers, fantastic value on a budget release a good film at an inexpensive price.

Gracie Fields on top form, a unemployed actress goes to be a housekeeper for a rude insensitive man his son is very distant from him the son is played by roddy macdowell and the father by montey wolley, mayhem laughter all the way and human feelings of emotion and misunderstandings give you that warm glow.. If your a Fields fan the cds Requests 1930-52, and Ramona offer a complete picture of her musical talents, as this film does as an actress A FEEL GOOD MOVIE IN TODAYS SUPERFICIAL WORLD.

What a wonderful and thoroughly entertaining film this is, this is my first experience of Gracie Fields and purchased this due to Monty Woolley being in this, suffice to say not only am I a fan Of Monty's, but Gracie's, too.
There's a good mixture of fun, laughter, slapstick, farce, singing and a terrific, entertaining cast, as well as Monty and Gracie the main cast members to stand out for me are a very young Roddy McDowall (as Monty's son) and Reginald Gardner (as the Butler), the rest of the cast are all excellent and together with me the cast were clearly having a ball too!!
My one and only problem with the film is that I wish it were longer, it's only 76 minutes long and just wish it'd been at least another 10-15 minutes more, but it's always a sure sign just how much you've enjoyed a film when you think this way I guess, If you enjoyed Monty Woolley in this then please check out The Man who came to dinner with Bette Davis, it's a terrific comedy, sadly only available on Region 1 at the moment.
Good sound and picture too, I've purchased this film in the Gracie Field's silver screen collection and that version at least has no subtitles whatsoever.
