I've purchased this to start an 'inspiration book'; a collage of images / text that inspire me. It's great with its elastic band and pouch at the back, the only disappointing thing is that I used a sharpie pen to comment on an image and that completely bled through to the other side of the page!
Apart from that brilliant!

Moleskine books are wonderful, no matter which one you buy you just cant be disappointed.
The colour of this notebook is perfect, though I also adore the black ones, the red sets a nice relaxed cheerful tone, making it perfect as my personal diary.

It has a nice hard back, with luxuriously soft pages. The lines are narrow, which is perfect if like me you have small handwriting.
Its the perfect size and not heavy at all, which means it can travel with you anywhere.

I would love to see this notebook manufactured in a variety of colours.

Beautiful.

I've used Moleskine notebooks for a few years now, but I usually buy the black-covered ones. I really like the striking bright red of this version. It's a proper fire-engine red, too, not dull brick like their Cahier range. The elastic closure, bookmark ribbon and even the edges of the back pocket are all colour-coded to match the cover. It's a really good look. I'll definitely be getting more coloured Moleskines in future.

If you aren't familiar with the Moleskine range, then I would recommend having a look at one in real life before ordering, as they are not to everyone's taste. The paper is light cream rather than pure white, and is thinner than other brands (it feels like 70 gsm - slightly lighter than photocopier paper). I rather like this, as it allows a 240 page book to be only 1cm thick (approximately). On the other hand, it means that you can't use a fountain pen or felt-tip as the ink would bleed through the pages. My favourite pen is the Uni-Ball Jetstream RT, which writes well on this paper without any strikethrough, so this is not a problem for me.

Secondly, the dimensions may be too compact for some (13 x 21 cm, or slightly narrower than A5). Again, this is a good size for a winter coat pocket, so I'm quite happy with that.

I use these notebooks daily and they are often admired in meetings, on the train or plane. Recommended

This is a perfect little notebook for my needs, which is a small professional diary. The hardback cover is substantive and I love the red color as it stands out so it never gets lost amongst the mess on my desk. Like someone else had mentioned, the ONLY thing I don't like about it is that if you use a particularly heavy ink (like a sharpie) it will bleed through to the next page. I use pretty heavy ink in a ball point, and depending how heavy i write once in a while the ink soaks through so I can't use the pages double-sided; but usually it's not a problem and I write on both sides of the pages most of the time without problems.

Moleskine are the iPhone of notebooks - some people love them with a passion, others can't believe that something so straightforward is so expensive.

They're both right, really. They certainly aren't cheap - you can scour bookshops, Amazon and Ebay and struggle to find a reasonably-priced one - and you could find a very similar alternative (from a supermarket among many other sources) for a third of the price.

On the other hand, there is something very likeable about them. They are pretty robust and well made; the pages are stitched into the spine so that the book falls open easily; the paper is good quality and made to last; there is both a book mark and an elastic snap-band to close the book, and inside the back cover is a pocket to hold loose bits of paper and other momentos.

In a similar way to the iPhone, fans of Moleskine (I'm one) tend to like something that is very hard to explain to a non-believer - the simple aesthetic pleasure of using it. And if you are someone who snorts with disbelief at that, you need to look elsewhere. Suffice to say that like an iPhone, the admittedly basic design has been ripped off by a hundred other manufacturers, which proves its quality. So, yes, I'm a fan - they aren't cheap and I wish they could knock a couple of quid off the price, but if they don't, I'll still stick with them.

This is perfect for me. I use this both at work and for my personal life. Bright red, great! I can spot it a mile off so it does not get lost and I spend half my time looking for it. Small enough to carry around at work and put into my laptop bag when travelling. It has a handy pocket for stuffing full of tickets, cards, etc.

Mine has been round Europe with me many times. The best note book ever!

I love Moleskine pads. They feel great, the paper is very high quality and I like carrying them rather than a dog eared notebpad. It seems quite small but there have 240 pages and so it lasts longer than expected.

I have the black version of this which is great. It contains flaps for business cards etc, a book mark and, my favourite, the elastic to go round your pages. I went for the red this time as a few people started to get the black one, it is obviously identical but stands out more (it is pretty vivid).

A worthwhile purchase at under a tenner. I love it! (sorry, maybe a bit over the top for a notebook!)
