When I received my sketchbook I did wonder if it was a fake product. The pages were very yellow and had a coarse texture. I have always bought these books as they are the best in my opinion. The local bookshop was sold out so I thought I would order through Amazon. The book I received was of an inferior quality. When i used an eraser it rubbed off the yellow and left a white streak on the page. Perhaps I was unlucky and got a reject book, usually they are top quality. I also bought a larger sketchbook and this was whiter but warped. Perhaps it is due to storage problems.

I was enitially impressed with this sketchpad. It looks very proffesional with the leather look cover, elastic holder and pocket at the back. The only down side to it is that becuase the pages have a yellow tinge to them, whenever I use a rubber on the pages it rubs out the yellow to reveal a white colour. Another down side to it is that you cannot use watercolour paint on the pages, it seems as though they have some sort of wateproof base on them which does not allow the watercolour to soak in the paper. Although, I have used acrylic paint which came out beautifully on the pages. I am yet to attempt to use such things as soft pastels, oil pastels on ink on the pages which I hope do not have the same consiquence as the water colour. Overall I would recommend this sketchbook to anyone who does mainly pencil and pen drawings and observations as it is not the best sketchpad to use when experimenting with a wide range of media. Hope this helps :)

Excellent small present for an artistic grandson. Good paper, good design, good size, sturdy construction, iconic product. What more can you say about a sketchbook?

I've used this sketchbook on a regular basis for years. I was a bit concerned when I heard the paper had changed but I compared the sketchbook I received with previous ones and although it does seem as though there has been some variation over time we now seem to be back to the proper paper - which I like very much.

I have heard about these sketchbooks being at uni studying an illustration degree. I saved up some money and bought one for a summer project, I mainly work in pencil, ink and water colour pens. I received this book and found the binding not to be the best the glue started to come away. I liked the cover and feel of the book though so just treated it a bit more carefully however once I started to use the book I found the colour of the pages to be inconsistent and that the colour would come off if rubbed out, I have a very light touch and a decent rubber but would be left with white marks across several pieces of work incredibly disappointing. I used water colour pens on a piece the paper absorbed the colour but would not allow for blending due to the paper not absorbing the water. Using inks was met with a similar effect but not as bad as the water colour. So let this be a warning for mixed media artists that this particular moleskine is not designed for very much. Very disappointing and I will not invest in a moleskine again as they are not worth the price.

Loads of pages, really nice and smooth to draw on, paint doesn't seep through the paper, handy pocket for saving leaflets/images etc, and most importantly survives being shoved in a bag and knocked about in a studio.

Some people have stated that they received a sub par quality product not representative of what moleskin usually produces, however I received one that is an original moleskin and this is a great sketch book.
