A complete reference to the field and an indispensable course supplement

Molecular & Cell Biology For Dummies makes this complex topic accessible to everyone, decoding jargon, demystifying theories, and helping students get the most from their coursework. This plain–English guide examines the evolution of the cell and how specialized cells have led to the rise of everything from amoebas to humans. It also examines the current research trends in this exciting field. Invaluable as a molecular or cellular biology course supplement, it helps students review core concepts, prepare for exams, and improve their grades.

Rene Fester Kratz, PhD (Everett, WA), is a Biology Instructor at Everett Community College and holds a doctorate in botany from the University of Washington. As a member of the North Cascades and Olympic Science Partnership, she is working to develop science curricula that are in alignment with research on human learning.

I've never rated a purchase before, but I HAD to for this as I was so impressed. I'd also never read a "For Dummies" book before, but I thought I would try this one as I am currently revising for my Biology A-Level first modules... It was an excellent investment (and such a good price!- though also well worth the RRP) and I've already reccommended it to all that are doing the Biology AS. It's great for all ages though- young and old. It would be good for those that need to refresh their memory (like me) and I have no doubt, for those that are starting out with Biology. It contains everything that is in a normal textbook, and more, and yet somehow kept me interested in ways that normal textbooks...just...don't. The author's humour was also a plus! Perhaps I'm just crazy, but I sat down and read this and didn't put it down for hours- and by the end I felt completely confident about my upcoming exam! (It's great if you find revision difficult.) It covers almost everything one would need for an AS first module...but I would reccommend this book to anyone that is remotely interested in this area of Biology.

I would also like to say that, I've now ordered many different books in the "For Dummies" series (including Computer Programming & Forensics etc), and they are ALL definitely worth the read. :-)

This is a brilliant, brilliant book.
I'm not a biologist or a chemist, just someone interested in all manner of things. As such, I often buy random titles that sound interesting.
This sounded interesting, and I have to say, I think its one of the best written 'text' books I've ever read.
It's packed with astounding information, and the author has an amazing ability to communicate very complicated stuff very effectively.
I bought the paperback about a year ago, and have misplaced it. I desperately want to read it again (third or fourth time), so I'm just about to buy the Kindle edition.
As the title of my review says: so good I bought it twice!
