Product Description

Product Description

Martin Harley returns with his unique and inimitable "delta blues" influenced songs featuring his masterful slide guitar work on the Weissenborn with 10 new songs recorded in Texas during his latest creative sabbatical! Martin Harley has long carved out a strong niche in the UK and now the US market as the most important emerging acoustic slide guitarist in the contemporary music scene. His new album "Mojo Fix" represents a significant move forward into edgier and more commercial influences married to his love of traditional "Delta blues" influenced slide and vocal tracks. Citing the Black Keys to Ry Cooder and Tom Waits as major influences, it's easy to follow the thread of the eclectic and exciting album he's crafted, produced by ex Brian Setzer Orchestra bassist Bob Parr and recorded in Texas. The album features guest performances from studio greats like Walfredo Reyes, Midlake's McKenzie Smith, Jon McLaughlin, and Charlie Bisharet. Harley's last album was #1 on the UK Blues Chart.

Review

'...there's much to admire in his latest pilgrimage across the craggier peaks of blues and folk...It's a satisfying fix of six-string mojo that deserves quality listening time.' --Guitarist * * * *

'Retune your ears feature. Presenting new, interesting or alternative musicians. Listen to something different with Paul Strange' --Acoustic Magazine

'This is an album that flows off the fretboard, with vocal dynamics to match. This is an album that really captures the essence of the blues and serves them with an English touch that helps make the sound his.' -- Fatea

'I enjoy Mojo Fix more & more each time I listen. It feels like a square peg in a round hole and that s great. Martin is touring soon & that has to be a good night out.' -- Folking.com

'It s different & intriguing & definite worth checking out. A nice clear production & Martin can really play & has a darn good voice. An artist to watch out for.'

"Harley is a class act. Massively accomplished stuff." -- 8/10* Classic Rock Mag

'It's a fabulous mixture that brings all sorts of roots music to the table, and he's reeled in some fantastic musicians to flesh out the songs. Harley himself is a fabulous slide guitarist & he's definitely got enough mojo of his own.'

--the-rocker.co.uk

'The quality of the song writing is consistently good throughout the album and he has a powerful, resonant voice which works well against a background of electric or acoustic guitar.' --MusicRiot.co.uk

"Acclaimed UK slide guitarist returns with Mojo fully in tact. Highly recommended." --Classic Rock Presents the Blues

"A wry blend of core blues (Harley plays slide guitar, lap-style, with a
healthy dose of Ry Cooder influences) and more approachable and eclectic ballad-driven rock, pop and folk, this makes for wider appeal" --Hifi+

"His latest album, Mojo Fix, finds him coming on like Ben Harper backed by the Black Keys with ashot of Mumford's-style new-folk pop sensibility to boot. The mojo is indeed working." --Guitar & Bass

healthy dose of Ry Cooder influences) and more approachable and eclectic ballad-driven rock, pop and folk, this makes for wider appeal" --Hifi+

The excellent, punchy opening title track leads one into some softer numbers, all of which demonstrate just how accomplished Martin Harley & band are. This familiar with his other material will not be dissappointed with this album. Production is crisp and clear with good separation.

And if you get the chance, go see him live - it adds a while new dimension to his music.

I absolutely adore this album and the Martin Harley Band. I don't think I will ever get bored of Martin's music. This album is very different from his past ones, but equally amazing. I love listening to it whilst on long road trips. Mojo Fix in your CD player, on repeat, makes any car journey a pleasure.

Martin is such a talented musIcian. His slide guitar skills are just unreal. I have been lucky enough to see him play live twice now, along with his band. On both occasions I was totally blown away. I also met him after one of his shows and he came across as a really lovely man. I am presently in the process of booking tickets for his solo tour in November. :)
I CAN'T WAIT!

I saw the Martin Harly Band as a support act and prefered them to the headliners. This Albem is in my car and i listen to it often as i love the guitar work in it.
