Moira Munro became a published writer, illustrator, and cartoonist after many years of doing really useful work.
She works for both the children and grown-up market, and since the publication of her first children's picture book, "Hamish, the bear who found his child", she has been in great demand in schools. The teachers never cottoned on that she was the one and same person behind the weekly satirical cartoon strip "The Staffroom", inspired by conversations overheard during author visits.
Moira spent her childhood years in Paris speaking French, but taught herself English from the McDonald's menu on the Champs-Élysées. This, inevitably, drew her back to her ancestral roots, the land of big Macs and all things Scottish.
