Meredith Godreau is behind the G & H moniker, and now this native New Yorker, who was plucked out of obscurity by FatCat, has rewarded the indie label with the assured MOENIE & KITCHI, produced by Mice Parade's Adam Pierce. Musically inspired by songwriter legends like Nick Drake, its personality is shaped by contemporary female icons like PJ Harvey, with producer Pierce getting considerable credit for adding alternately lush and tense atmosphere to conceptually spare trackslike "Wild West". But ultimately Godreau's voice is all herown, tiny and beautiful, able to elevate above (as in "West") or carefully blend into the overall stride of songs like the Juliana Hatfield-esque "Ghost".
