Product Description

Review

Modular knitting involves making small pieces of knitted fabric or modules, that are then joined together to make a larger item. Before you panic at the thought of all that sewing, dont - the clever thing about the technique is that the pieces are joined as they are knitted. Andra's book kicks off with a tutorial for a simple scarf. If you've not tried modular knitting before, this is a good project to introduce you to the basic technique. Then you can move on to knitting shawls, blankets, and even a hooded sweater and long women's coat. You'll also discover how to incorporate cabled panels into your projects.-Knit Today

Product Description

Andra Knight-Bowman has taken the technique of modular knitting to a new level. She starts by sharing in a tutorial how easy and quick modular knitting can be, using a simple scarf pattern as the design. Then she gives instructions for creating other beautiful flat designs: a baby blanket and a shawl. To show you how versatile this technique is, Andra has also designed a hoodie sweater and hoodie vest, woman's cardigan, fun-to-knit hat, men's crewneck with a cable, silky turtleneck, summer shell with a cable, a bag with a cable panel, a long luxurious coat for women and a sassy dog's coat. Andra has also expanded the technique to include cables panels. If you've looked at beautiful modular knitting designs and thought they were too difficult for you, this book will change your mind. The scarf project is rated easy and all the other designs are intermediate level. Discover the joy of modular knitting. It's new! It's fun! And it's easy!

Good 31 Dec 2010
This book has clear instructions and good photos. It made me want to knit right away and I completed a simple scarf within 2 days. It is not very thick, though!

Sometimes I have bought an instruction book with patterns in it and have found that most of the time the patterns offered I would not bother with!! However, this book has good instruction, good demonstrations, easy to follow and understand. It also gives me inspiration of other things I may design. The book has a woman's hooded jumper, little jacket, a triangle shawl, scarf & hat, and a summer top; also man's sweater, and an after thought of a dog's sweater! My immediate thoughts were, that I would be happy to knit all these items. Yes, a simple useful book, worth the price and a keeper. I hope this has been useful to you fellow knitters :-)

More of a magazine 1 April 2010

I did not check to see how many pages this 'book' contained before I went ahead and purchased it. It is thinner than some glossy magazines.

The book does not include any introduction into this style of knitting and jumps straight into the patterns from page 2 after a brief introduction about the author. I really thought this book with the title including the words 'knitting made easy' would give some information into the basics of modular knitting techniques. Very disappointed.
