This review is from: How to Modify Your Mini (Paperback)
David Vizard is a tuner of mnay types of engines, but is perhaps most recognised for his work with series A engines and the Mini. Although this book is now over 20 years old, it is still very relevant to tuning Mini's. For more up to date info, try Tuning Bl's A series engine also by David Vizard.

A Mini Classic, 23 April 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: How to Modify Your Mini (Paperback)
Although it's now over thirty years old this is probably still the definitve title for the Mini. The majority of competing titles concentrate solely on the engine and it's ancillaries, this book covers almost every part of the car. Engine, suspension, brakes, wheels, tyres, bodywork, etc.
There is of course some outdated information, but much of the content is still relevant today.
Some of the products covered are no longer available, which is one area where an update might be useful.
Other areas needing an update are those covering brakes and the section on wheels and tyres, which are probably the most outdated sections. There is obviously no mention of converting the brakes to four pot Metro brakes, and similarly no mention of modern tyres such as the 165/60R12 and 175/60R13 sizes.
Some of the outdated parts would probably amuse modern readers, for example the section on converting MkI shells to take MkII/MkIII rear lights - these days many Mini owners are converting newer cars to the MkI rear lights.
Given the current popularity of the Mini an update of this book would probably benefit the publishers as well as potential readers. But all in all still a very useful title to the Mini enthusiast.
