The author is obviously an outstanding engineer, but unfortunately not a flowing writer. The book is full of useful information on suspension design and theory, but the nuggets of good stuff have to be distilled from the confused repetition and undecipherable writing style. If someone would like to convert it into a set of bullet points it would be great.

Overall, a bit disappointing. A useful source of info, but you'll have to work hard to get the bits you need.

Having never set up my suspension on my kit car before I was looking for all the information I could get my hands on. I bought this and another book on how to make your car handle and felt this was the poorer of the 2 books. Des Hamill is a knowledgeable person but his writing style makes it difficult to get at the information he repeats himself and often wanders off topic into another area and after a while it becomes frustrating that you can't get to the answers you need quickly. Once you do get through to the subject at hand he has some very helpful explanations and his method for corner weighting a car should be relatively accurate and incredibly locost! As the title says it is a useful book but there are better suspension books available.
