From the very first track you feel like dancing and jumping around coz it's such a happy sound! Save Ferris are definately back on top form with their latest offering. I instantly loved "Turn It Up", but, to be perfectly honest - I was dissappointed with the rest of the album, AT FIRST. I didn't want to write "Modified" off just yet. Upon further listening, I realsied what a great album it really is. As I write this I'm listening to it. It's not as memorable as their previous album "It Means Everything" but fantastic nonetheless. From the fast almostborderingonpunk ska to the chilled out "No Love" to the slow, romantic "Let Me In" (which appeared in "Roswell High") this has something for all musical tastes. The only thing I'm sad about is the change in Monique Powell's voice - I don't know if it's the recording or the production or her actual voice - the fantastic, strong, unmistakeable, almost brashness of her voice had faded into a smoother sound which tends to fade into the background. I haven't let this spoil my enjoyment of the record and I hope you don't either!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Long Live Save Ferris 21 Dec 2000
Format:Audio CD
Save ferris's latest album improves on their already impressive collection superb punk/ska albums. They have changed their sound slightly for this latest release but there up-beat charm and funky sounds keep you coming back again and again. Bloody Brilliant! Also check out "Reel Big Fish" who also rock this genre.

I heard of Save Ferris from the 10 Things soundtrack and have been searching for ages to find some of their stuff. I finally had to import this from the US on Amazon.co.uk site. I love the CD. Got some great songs like I'm Not Crying For You, You're Friend and What You See Is What You Get. Great songs for me as I've just split up with my boyfriend! I love the CD from the first listen, a definite reccomendation.

3.0 out of 5 stars If Pop is your thing, buy it! 31 May 2000
By A music fan - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
But if you're looking for Ska then don't. If you want Save Ferris, the Ska band, buy either of their two earlier albums: their major label debut, "It Means Everything" or "Introducing Save Ferris," which the band members produced themselves. I've been a fan of these guys for years now, Save Ferris was a great ska band because it was so well integrated. Mashburn is a great guitarist and he got to showcase his stuff more on the first two albums. Zamora, Castellanos, and T Bone Willy, arguably, the best brass and sax players in OC Ska today, really jammed in both of the earlier albums. Now they provide more along the lines of background music. Powell is a great vocalist, and this fact is apparent in any of their three CDs. I'm not a fan of pop music, so this album doesn't do that much for me, but if you like pop, well, at least this is really high quality pop produced by talented musicians.

5.0 out of 5 stars Save Ferris' "Modifed" a Different but Wonderful Surprise 11 Dec 1999
By "josiegrl182" - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Being a fan of Save Ferris since their "Introducing..." EP in 1996, when I heard that they were straying away from their ska/pop/swing sound that the Orange County band was known for, I started to worry a little. Modified though, is just a amazing CD. It's quite different from "It Means Everything", but I love it all! The CD has so many different elements to it, from the in your face "Angry Situation" to the absolutely beautiful ballad of "Let Me In." Other great songs include "I'm Not Crying for You", "Mistaken", and "The Only Way to Be." The secret track, "Modified" is my favorite though. Rolling Stone called Save Ferris a "poor man's No Doubt", but they are anything than that..

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the Heartbroken 27 Aug 2004
By Li - Published on Amazon.com

Ever known a band for ages yet not gotten into them till one day something happens, you listen to a song and suddenly you're hooked? That's how I feel about Save Ferris. I have 2 main reasons for loving this band: 1) Monique Powell's amazing vocals and 2) I'm trying to forget someone who really let me down; the music lifts my spirits and the lyrics just echo my thoughts, or at least what I should be thinking.

Contrarily, the best song on this album for me is "Let Me In" (I say contrarily because it's not something the heartbroken should be listening to). If you need to move on, this is perfect for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Change isn't always for the best. 7 April 2000
By Jacki Paolella - Published on Amazon.com

I like to listen to all kinds of music, but i'm particularly a fan of ska. Save Feriss' last cd "It Means Everything" was exactly what I was looking for with up-beat music, and killer horns, but I was a bit dissapointed to find that their new album had sort of left the ska category and reformed inself into a ska/pop/rock sort of creation, a bit like No Doubt's "Tragic Kindom". If you want to hear some real Save Ferris, buy their first cd instead. I'm hoping their new album will please me more than this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you'd just stop comparing it to their debut... 26 Sep 2001
By Mr. T. S. Guy - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
From reading the reviews on this page, everybody seems to be comparing this CD to Save Ferris's debut album, "It Means Everyting" instead of judging it by it's own merit.
Now since I haven't heard "It Means Everything" yet, my review is going to be based purely on what I think of this album - and I love it!
Favorite tracks include "Mistaken", "Let Me In", "Modified" and "Turn It Up". "Mistaken" is a shot of pure energy - it's loud, it's fun, and it's easy to sing along to. "Modified" is the hidden bonus track, it comes along about 2 minutes after "Let Me In" if you leave the CD running. Again, it's full of energy and life, and leaves you feeling refreshed and alive.
The CD opens up with "Turn It Up", another great fun track - you may notice a recurring theme here, that all the songs seem to be energy-fuelled and feel-good style. This would be true, with the exception of the hauntingly beautiful ballad "Let Me In". It's competely different to everything else Save Ferris have ever done, and it really shows off the diversity and beauty of Monique's voice.
Overall this is a great CD, not a single track I didn't enjoy. Now I just wish my copy of "It Means Everything" would hurry up and arrive so I can see if it really is even better!
