1.0 out of 5 stars Item recieved was not as described! 22 Nov 2012

The product that arrived was not quite as described. The heading stated 'Raspberry Pi Extra Long Micro USB 3 Pin UK Mains Charger Power Supply (1AMP / 1000mAh Version)', but I wouldn't have said it was long, let alone extra long, and it was only rated to 600mA output, so below the required 700mA for the type B, and well below the 1A as described. Returned to Amazon for a refund.

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT AS DESCRIBED - AVOID 30 Nov 2012

DO NOT BUY THIS.

I ignored the other review to my detriment as I discovered that this is not 1000ma as described but 600. Very disappointed - AMAZON where's the quality control?!

- Also not an extra long cable. What a PoS.

Cheers

The product arrived fairly promptly.

What I received was a 1Amp device, which was perfectly adequate for the half hour or so that I used it.

There is a little LED on it so you can see when the mains it's connected to is on.

There are some niggles from me, about things that perhaps other people won't mind:

It's a UK plug, with a plastic earth pin, the other pins are shrouded though, so I suppose on balance, that's not too bad.

The length of the lead is about or maybe just over five feet long, I really wouldn't call that extra long, for that description to apply I'd want at least eight feet, maybe twelve feet.

It looked good. The spec was OK. It worked fine for the first hour. Then I detected a slight buzz that on closer inspection sounded like arcing. It is such a cheap item that it wasn't worth returning, so I took it to bits and immediately found the problem. One of the wires from the PCB had a 'dry-joint' contact with the plug pin and was only making pressure contact - hence the arcing. I hope it was a one-off and I was just unlucky.

Does exactly what it says - delivers 1 amp rather than the recommended 700 Ma minimum. I would recommend it..

Bought this item from the same seller but off ebay, works a treat! Better then paying god knows how much for a branded one which is exactly the same product!

4.0 out of 5 stars Does the job 5 Dec 2012

I wanted to ensure my Raspberry Pi had a good quality, regulated, supply- this does the job nicely. I wouldn't describe the lead as "extra" long however!

Not bad but it would have been useful if it was a detachable USB cable to plug into a laptop/computer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does the job. long lead is nice
Not much to say really. It's a charger. You plug it in to the wall and to the Raspberry Pi and it works.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's a power supply. It works.
Not much else to say. Does it what it's meant too. The cable could be a little longer and the cable fill a little sturdier.

1.0 out of 5 stars useless
It did not provide enough power to power the raspberry pi. I think it is intended for charging a different device.
