5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasant surprise 21 Nov 2010
Verified Purchase
As the title says, I got a pleasant surprise when this arrived. All the parts are of good quality and look well made. The main hinged frame is made of metal and is a decent weight. The rubber components are thick and wont tear in a hurry. It looks good on the dash and it doesn't move. The phone stays put as well, you just place it on the rubber pad and it stays. How does it do that? because the surface isn't sticky,....genius. If it all stays together, and it certainly looks like it will this is a bargain. I bought it for my HTC Desire phone but it will just as happily hold my iPod touch, the wifes phone and probably a sat nav if you have one. That would save the giveaway circular mark on the windscreen that the opportunist thief looks for when he steals your sat nav out of your glove box.
All in all, worth every penny of the 8.99 it cost.

3.0 out of 5 stars WORKS BUT HEATH ROBINSON 1 Feb 2011
By A. Taylor TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE VOICE

Works, does what it says on the tin. Well, up to a point at any rate, basically the kit consists of a folding metal bracket and two pieces of sticky foam material. There were no written instructions with my kit so I `assembled' using the pictures - doesn't help that no two are the same -.

One piece of foam sticks on to one bracket and the other sticks on the dashboard of the car and the bracket is then stuck to that. The phone is then `stuck' to the piece of foam on the top of the bracket (hope that makes sense).

On the plus side it does appear to hold the phone in place although I wouldn't like to try it on any kind of a rough road. When the phone is taken off the bracket for general use there is no residue, no sticky mess on phone in other words. I have a suspicion that things could come unglued after a while on a hot day (if we ever get one I'll let you know.) As far as I can tell the bracket could be used to hold any item you care to trust to it, could be a sat nav, or whatever. I have just tried it with a HTC Desire HD so can't coment on other uses. The other plus is the company that supplied the item sent it very quickly and well packaged.

Down side is that it's all a bit Heath Robinson and really doesn't look very nice on the dashboard at all. As there are no clips on the bracket the sticky material is all that's between your phone (sat nav or...) and the floor in the case of a sharp bend or rough road, although the box does say that the foam rubber has special shock absorbing properties. I have to say that I'm not too comfortable using it, especially having paid 450 for my phone (sim free) at any rate. Some instructions would have been nice in case I'm not doing the thing justice.

3.0 out of 5 stars Didnt Work for me! 15 Dec 2010

Didnt quite quite work with the setup I threw at it. Firstly, Saab 9-3 dash slopes backwards towards thw windscreen on an angle and secondly, I tried it with the huge Desire HD. It would topple backwards and wasnt terrible secure with this type of phone. Probably good on a level dash with a regular sized phone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product 6 May 2011

I was a bit dubious when I ordered this but was pleasantly surprised by the product.

It comes in 3 parts and is well made, the material is washable and retains it's sticky properties after washing.

I wanted a phone holder that did not need permanent fixing and provided that you have at least 80% of the base incontact with the dash board it stays put.

I also have a large phone (Desire HD) and provided you do not try and go beyond the laws of physics it holds the phone securely (both vertically and horizontally).

Have used this product now for 5 months and it has only fallen off the dashboard once when I decided to test it's limits!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good product! 14 Dec 2010
By hobee
One of best products I've bought. The phone 'sticks' to it very well but leaves no sticky reisdue.

Just away to order another one for the car as my son took this one to sit on his desk as it's perfect for the HTC HD7 as it doesn't budge when he uses it!

2.0 out of 5 stars Ugly and attracts dust and dirt 29 Dec 2010
It works perfectly but it is one of the ugliest things I have ever had on my car dashboard. It also acts as a magnet for dust and dirt. You really have to be a utilitarian to want this ...

I have a HTC Desire (codename Bravo) and a Vauxhall Meriva!
I was looking for a holder for my phone but I didn't want one of those sucker-to-your-windscreen holders, the big spot on your windscreen is a giveaway. This is cheap enough to give it a go without worrying if it's a complete failure.
I'm really pleased so far though. You get a sticky pad to go on the dashboard, in my car I put it in front of the display screen in the middle, a hinged metal frame to put on that pad which itself has a sticky pad on it. You put your phone on the sticky frame and put the frame on the pad that's on the dashboard.
The stick is very good, I've been on a long journey with it all in place and it posed no problems. I could adjust the angle of the frame when I was driving if the glare was bad and it moved without anything becoming unstuck. The phone was solid all through the journey.
When I take my phone off the hinge it is so sticky that the back cover has come off so I need to be careful when I take it off. When I take the frame off the dashboard then the whole pad normally comes off with it. This has me worried about how many times you can un-stick and re-stick it; so far it's fine, I'll add a comment to the review if it becomes a problem.
Generally very pleased but I'm slightly worried about its longevity.
