OLD BOOK, SOME NEW THINKING 18 Aug. 2007
By Severin Olson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Written in the 1920's, this is an old book about the dominant cults of the period. It centers on Christian Science, New Thought, and Spiritualism. Christian Science is now in sharp decline and the latter two are rarely heard of these days, their ideas incorporated under other names. Atkins examines why Western society has been such fertile ground for these cults. His best chapter explores Christian Science, whose arguments he refutes quite eloquently. Readers should note that while this is an old book, it still provides a fresh perspective.

Fantastic way to get in some good reading when your schedule doesn't allow you to on you average day. I can listen while I am driving or through by blue tooth ear while I am working.

I should have checked the publication date before downloading. This sucker is ancient! Even the names of some of the sects are different from current usage.

Could be a hoot to religious historians, though.

Not sure about this book. After reading it , I got the impression that the writer was suggesting that we use some of the methods of these cults to improve on Christianity.
