A Modern Horse Herbal is the book that I consult most when I have any medical problem with my horses. It is split into two main parts: herbs listed alphabetically detailing when and where to find them and what they can be used for, and which herbs to use for common ailments. Hilary also refers to other alternative therapies such as bach flower remedies, homoeopathy and aromatherapy where appropriate. Very clearly written with interesting case studies, it's the perfect reference book for giving herbs to horses. The book isn't a guide to identifying herbs and other than a few small drawings there are no illustrations.
