Product Description

As reliable as factory engines are, they often leave a bit on the table in the name of cost savings. While you get a great engine for a reasonable price, they haven't necessarily been given as much attention as they could have received. When it's time to rebuild, balancing and blueprinting your engine will produce more horsepower and torque, more efficiently use fuel, run cooler, and last longer. Through the blueprinting process, you carefully measure, adjust, machine, and fit each part together with precision tolerances optimizing the design and maximising performance....covers the block, crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, cylinder heads, intake manifolds, camshaft, measuring tools and final assembly techniques. This book provides an unprecedented level of detail and instruction on the process of balancing and blueprinting your engine. --ModifiedMustangsandFords, November, 2013

4.0 out of 5 stars Detailed information, but dated tech. 10 Dec. 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Looked forward to receiving this as I had it on advanced order.
On first reading I found some of the info a little dated, for instance the section on rod length / stroke ratio. I would advise people to read the latest from David Vizard on this subject who actually backs up the data with dyno test results and a proper explanation of what's actually going on here.
Overall though the book is well written and does have a lot of useful information in it. A worthwhile addition to anyone's garage library.

5.0 out of 5 stars Of great interest to all levels of Engineers 10 Jun. 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I had employed lots of these basic techniques over the years and tried to understand the value they would add to my engine/gearbox. I personally found the book great for daydreaming, lack of machine shop and money.and to understand where I should spend my pension to best effect. I keep reading it in odd moments and planning the next motor. Do give it a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like a pro. 5 Oct. 2013

Expert material. High precision physics is not for the beginner and I certainly consider this book an education on the level to teach the experienced while providing an overall skill-set needed for any mechanical engineering enthusiast.

Excellent work worth a 5 star rating but like every expert I have ever worked with in my considerable experience as a retired professional, suffers from a high opinion regarding his own research against historical methodology and standards. However, his material is accurate physically and his mathematics is accountable. He is correct.

Take it like the pro you are.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thom' Review of "Modern Engine Blueprinting Techniques 11 Dec. 2013
By Darlene M. Petri - Published on
Another great book from Car Tech. Informative and entertaining, every part is analyzed for function and techniques used to optimize it for better performance. Even push rods need special attention, who'd a thunk it. Weather you are building a killer race engine or the ultimate street machine, this book is a must use referance. And if you are a gear head who wants to better understand what goes on behind the scenes, why do succesful engine builders get the big bucks and are held in such high esteem; this book is for you. Thank you Mike!

5.0 out of 5 stars ENGINE BLUEPRINTERS: This Book is a Must-Have 15 Nov. 2013
By RobtCM - Published on
I have always had a strong interest in Cars and Engines. Whereas I have rebuilt an engine or two, I have never Blueprinted one..... this book gives you the written tools to do so and I would feel very confident following the instructions and using the great illustrations to complete such a project. Mike Mavrigian has done a wonderful job and CarTech has once again given us a great book to add to our Auto Libraries. Anyone thinking about Engine Blueprinting should have this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Illustrations and Precise Instructions 1 April 2014
By Amazon Customer - Published on
My gosh! This book is amazing, but is not for the faint of heart. If you are an occassional fixer uper who changes his/her own oil and maybe some spark plugs or brakes, this book is NOT for you. However, if you are delving into engine building and specs, this book is a great source book to keep on the shelf for referencing. It'll remind you of precise measurements and tools to use in particular circumstances while blueprinting an engine. The book also discusses what true blueprinting is vs. the generic "blueprinting" vocabulary that is loosely thrown out there by many mechanics.

It's a great teaching tool for those just starting engine blueprinting and an excellent resource for those professional blueprinters as well. Well worth the purchase. The book is all about precision, precision, precision of ALL engine parts! Great illustrations too!

Again, just as a reminder, this book is for those into building engines to precise measurements. This practice involves lots of financial resources and instruments. If you are not already into blueprinting or planning on it, then this book is not for you. The reading level of this informational text is very advanced, but is awesome if you understand the lingo in the art of blueprinting.

Mike Mavrigian is a author of excellence i prefer to study items of engine like engine block, oiling system, engine maths, crankshafts, connecting rods, and so on.

The book, also, shows photographies about different items, equipment, measurement, and data when your are working engines. What do you happend if you get one like this, Will be wonderful,
