His style, a melange of gossip, observation and good sources, makes for an easy and compelling read...you have to come away from this account of modern British Jewry with a better understanding of the forces at work above and below the surface. That's quite something. (Jewish Chronicle)
I had to review this book as part of my university assignments.
I read the whole thing cover to cover, and found it to contain a heavy pro-Jewish bias, as opposed to an impartial report.
Please don't misunderstand, I am not anti-Semitic at all, I just believe that no-one should be exempt from the obligation to be fair to both sides of an argument, and unfortunately the book candy-coats many negative actions by the historic Anglo-Jewry, and loudly condemns any action of their historic oppressors.
While this book is naturally targeted and marketed to the Anglo-Jewry, thereby making such a biased approach inevitable, it made for weary reading at times, not only because the reports were so one-sided, but also because a lot of the history was actually really boring stuff.
Won't be reading it again.
