Review

"As Clark says in his introduction, the book was written in the hope it could be a useful guide to the complexities of building the Tiger in 1/72nd scale, in this, he has admirably succeeded... Highly Recommended." -Jim Rae, "Armorama "(March 2006)
"Quite honestly, there's nothing bad about this new volume from Osprey Publishing. Excellent, accurate information, top notch photography and instruction, and a nice selection of subject variant builds all come together to a definite thumbs up!" -Antonio J. R. Carvalho, "Armorama "(March 2006)
"In all, a very nicely done book and one that anyone who likes to build 1/72 armor would find of interest. I know I picked up a few things to try and I'm sure you will too." -Scott Van Aken, "modelingmadness.com"

Product Description

The Tiger tank is probably the most famous tank of World War II. Both the Tiger I and its successor, the Tiger II, were used as bases for other German vehicles. This book covers a wide range of vehicles based on the chassis of the Tiger I and II tanks in 1/72nd scale. It provides a detailed guide to modelling the basic tank versions as well as the Sturmmorser Sturmtiger (Tiger I variant), Jagdtiger (Tiger II variant) and the Panzerjager Tiger (P) Elefant tank destroyer. A variety of camouflage schemes are described in depth, and the text covers photoetched parts, resin aftermarket sets, scratchbuilding, and the use of figures and groundwork.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Guide, 1 April 2006
This review is from: Modelling the Tiger Tank in 1/72 Scale (Osprey Modelling) (Paperback)
As someone who modelled 1/72nd for years before it became all trendy again, this book is remarkable. The fact that it exists is a plus, but the standard of modelling skill is amazing even gievn modern techniques. Most useful and interesting to me were the excellent descriptions of colour schemes, and how to represent them, and weathering. I think I prefer, slightly, the companion Panzer IV book, by the same author, but both present a wealth of information at a very good price point. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another excelent book by Alex Clark, 4 May 2006
By spejic - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Modelling the Tiger Tank in 1/72 Scale (Osprey Modelling) (Paperback)
Fans of 1/72 scale armor rejoice! This book contains walkthroughs of builds of a Tiger II, Elefant, Tiger, Sturmtiger, and Jagdtiger. This is certainly not a beginner's book - even the easiest of the builds ends up being mostly resin after-market parts, and the later models have a large percentage of scratch-built components. The Jagdtiger includes a full interior that defies description. The pictures are better than the ones from the previous Panzer IV book - more large pictures, and the small ones are taken closer to the details, so you can still make them out. However, I would like to see more steps devoted to painting techniques, like masking and how he deals with tracks and other attached parts.

Detail pictures of an actual preserved Elefant are included in that chapter. A gallery of builds by other modelers includes a Tiger I, Tiger II and a Ferdinand interior. There is also a section on reference materials and reviews of available models.

Anyone with an interest in 1/72 scale armor or of modeling excellence in general should get this book. Any book by Alex Clark is going to find an instant slot in my bookshelf from now on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Building tiny Tigers? This book is for you., 11 April 2006
By Dennis Tennant "dtshooter" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Modelling the Tiger Tank in 1/72 Scale (Osprey Modelling) (Paperback)
This book is the latest title in the popular Osprey Modelling series (it's number 28). Aimed primarily at intermediate and advanced armor modelers, the book explores a number of Tiger tank variants in 1/72 scale (Braille scale, to some). Like all the books in the Osprey series, the quality of the photographs and writing is superb. Alex Clark does a wonderful job covering the intricacies of building many different Tiger versions (this is his second Osprey title) and his writing style is both instructional and easy to read. A careful reader can look forward to spending two or three hours enjoying this book and walk away with ideas for improving future Tiger projects.

5.0 out of 5 stars Small and BIg Tigers, 8 Jan 2010
By Ricardo Haddad - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Modelling the Tiger Tank in 1/72 Scale (Osprey Modelling) (Paperback)
This book, together with the Panzer IV ones, brings us with a chance to see Mr. Clarks technique, refining from simple assembling to almost scratchbuild a tiger. Many variants are included and ways to assemble, paint, convert, etc are also included.
