Book Description

4 July 2007 Osprey Modelling (Book 37)
Probably the most famous tank of the World War II, the Tiger I was originally conceived in 1941 in response to the German Army's experience in fighting British tanks and anti-tank guns in Western Europe and the North African desert. Following the invasion of Russia, the appearance of the Soviet T-34 and KW tanks lent a further impetus to the programme and 1350 Tigers were produced between August 1942 and August 1944. The Tiger has proved to be one of the most popular modelling subjects of all time, with a vast and ever-increasing range of kits, aftermarket products and references available. This title features six different projects from some of the earliest Tigers in North Africa through to the late-production variants at the very end of the war.

Review

"Osprey's Modelling series shows how advanced modelers use their knowledge, skills and expertise to create incredibly and correctly detailed models of all sorts... Each book discusses how a variety of model kits are used to make authentic looking WWII vehicles... If you are looking for books that provide the high detailing to take your miniatures to the next level, you should check these books out." -Michael Koznarsky, "Historical Miniature Gamer "(Issue 11)

"The variety of authors allows the reader to view a number of different styles and techniques, each arriving at a pleasing and impressive model... After reading it, you feel as if nothing in the modeling world is impossible to do. As such it will prove to be an inspirational book to all lovers of the Tiger I. Recommended." -Rob Baumgartner, "missing-lynx.com" (July 2007)

"This all results in another superlative book in the Osprey Modelling series and one can see why these books are so popular." -Scott Van Aken, "modelingmadness.com" (July 2007)

"The book is superbly compiled from the work of five different authors and tied together in a logical and easily-understandable manner by the Editor...The first AFV Modeling title in several months from Osprey Publishing. Like the other books in the series, this promises to be an invaluable source of both inspiration and some highly applicable techniques." -Jim Rae, "Armorama "(August 2007)

5.0 out of 5 stars This Tiger book bites - ouch! 8 Aug 2007
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book is a definite MUST for ALL Tiger I fans. The book deals with the construction of 5 models in 1:35 scale and 1 in 1:16. All 1:35 scale kits are built at an intermediate level and the 1:16 scale model at an advanced level. However, beginners (like myself) should not be put off by this. The photos are fantastic, showing a superb level of detail. No matter what your preffered scale, this book is a first class reference. Thoroughly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for all Tiger I fans 20 May 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is an amazing book! Being a modeller coming back to action after lots of years, this book has given me the spur to keep up with modelling and reach the level of skill displayed in the book.
The book covers the construction of 6 different Tiger 1 models and at the end of each built, you feel like each model is a unique version of the Tiger. The techniques range from basic to advanced and although the book covers tigers only, most of the work and finishing can be easily applied to any German armour of WWII.
