Although originally written way back in the early 1900's, Edouard Lanteri certainly knew his stuff (did't they always in those days :o) ). This book shows you how to build up your human models by looking at how the body is constructed; from the bones to the muscles to the flesh. Great practical tips on how to construct figures and busts and how to go about making relieve models. At that price it's a good buy for any modeller.

This is a very old book first published in 1902 and thankfully, its obvious popularity has caused it to be republished many times. I was first shown this book by a teacher sculptress and it was highly recomended by her. It really does show you where all the muscles are and how to make any portion of the human figure, look like it is human, rather than a doll. It is a book that you will thankfully refer to again and again and be very glad that you have on hand.

Having developed an enthusiasm - and interest - in 'sculpture from Life', I purchased this book in the hope that I would be able to learn more at my leisure. I have not been disappointed. The guidance given is clear, direct and relevant. It is not of a 'glossy'magazine style, quite the reverse in fact, but I feel that the author 'really knew his stuff' and genuinely wanted to share his knowledge. I am very pleased to now be one of those who can 'learn' from him.
