I became motivated to buy some clay and model the head of my daughter in the biased view the my daughter is wonderful, and I posses super powers.
This book - one of two I added to my sculptors shopping list was the lesser used (Bruno Lucchesi book the more so).
To me the author came across as an experienced practioner of modelling. What's wrong with that? Well not a great deal - hence my rating of the book. I did hope though for some passion and inspiration. When you set to on a project you'll need both to keep going. I thank the author for her tips on cardboard calipers being less frightening to a model than metal ones and many other tips along the way - but there was little passion or art in it I'm afraid. The Lucchesi book by comparison creates something that is simply beautiful as a product, and has been enough alone to keep me going. It might be me, but the boy featured on the cover doesn't look a lot like the one in the photo inside. That said the author is clearly expert and provides a useful second book to buy on the subject.
