This is an overall good book.
However on Page 8 & 9 there are 4 errors on the pictures, someone don't know how to tell 800 NAS and 801 NAS aircraft apart
Errors that that are unnessecery and it give a book a rather inept apperance, basic errors like those must not appear in such a book.
Covering the falklands war, it is clear that the author are very much influenced in his writting by reading mainly one book about the seaharriers in the falklands, David Morgan's " Hostile skies" (availible here at amazon.co.uk), that is just to bad, I find that "Hostile skies" being an ok book, are nowhere the best source of information, had the author used other books/imformation about the Falklands airwar, perhaps the chapter about Seaharrier in the falklands would have had at least one picture of HMS Invincble ( the other carrier ) and her Seaharrier from 801 NAS during the war.
I would also have prefered less pages spend on "Anniversary and Retirement" schemes and then perhaps made the part about the falklands war bigger, when talking about the Seaharrier this was their finest hour.
That Pictures are all clear and of good quality, as are all the drawings and the model reference section are top notch.
A good book that could have been so much better.

More for the modeller than the general enthusiast 15 Jan 2012
By Jim Davis - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
The book, like other in the Modellers Datafile series (this is number 11), is an 8-1/4" x 11-3/4", square bound card cover with 128 pages. Since the Sea Harrier was developed fairly recently color photography dominates the book.

The book is geared to the modeller from start to finish. Although there is a competent background, development, and service history the emphasis is on the appearance of the aircraft from the beginning. This can be demonstrated no better than to point out chapters with titles like "No. 899 Squadron Anniversary Colour Scheme" or "No. 800 Squadron Retirement Scheme".

There is a fair amount of information about the aircraft themselves as opposed to their appearance but the reader is left largely to his own devices in this regard. There are captions that are repeated over and over again. Interesting features are not identified. Indeed the photos of the Airfix 1/24th scale model kit are much better in this regard.

There is the usual 8 page bound foldout. Make sure this is included if buying secondhand. If at all interested in buying this book don't wait until it is out of print. Modellers Datafiles command high prices on the secondhand market.

Obviously not being a modeller I was not the target audience. Still, the photographs and drawings by themselves make the book a worthwhile purchase.
