Format:Audio CD
The first in Kents Mod Jazz series is a stonker, no doubt about it, bringing a combination of gritty dancefloor jazz and soul-laced tracks, this CD makes an excellent starting point for those just breaking into the world of soul-jazz. Favorite tracks for me would have to be Booglaloo Joe Jones' "Games" - four minutes of guitar filled frenzy, Willis Jacksons "Pool Shark" and both of the Jack McDuff tracks, hammond screamers at their best.

This is album was a great way for me to discover some "new" classic stuff.
If it wasn't for this I would never have heard Mark Murphy or Mose Allison (to my shame!!)
Makes for an effortless soundtrack to a cool evening.

Mod Jazz delivers the cream of Basement Underground Jazz for it's hey day in the 6o's. some quality tracks here include (for me anyway)- Soul Shoutin & Whip it on me. Top stuff.
