I was gripped to the storyline and read this book quickly. But I think that was because of the strength in the first two books (particularly the first) that completely captivated me. So I was gripped to Mockingjay to get a conclusion from The Hunger Games and Catching Fire. But the third book failed to give what the first two had through the loss of detail in the relationship between the characters. There was no focus on them interacting with each other which was really disappointing. It did not flow as well and it did not feel that the writer knew her story, more that she knew the beginning and the end and just made up the middle content of the book as she went along.
I was really disappointed with the ending, it was just so depressing. Katniss lost her sister and effectively her Mother and Gale in one go. And not only did she loose them but there was no conclusion to the relationship with Gale and her Mother. Particularly the disappearance of Gale, who many readers like myself, have been gripped to discover the conclusion of. They ended their epic relationship on a weak half conversation and she never hears from him again, I was gutted.
