Product Description

Product Description

Mobile Web Design, a book by industry expert Cameron Moll, provides a web standards approach for delivering content beyond the desktop. Much has been written about mobile devices. Plenty has been written about developing websites for the so-called "standards era" of the web. However, little has been written about the two colliding. This resource aims to fill that void. If you're in a position to develop for, manage, or give advice regarding your organizations foray into a web strategy for mobile devices, then this book is for you. Discover how to deliver web content to mobile devices (nearly 3 billion worldwide). Includes statistics, code samples, and more than 40 screens from actual devices. "Very good and clearly written. Certainly another great reference to help people find their way in the world of the Mobile Web." -Jo Rabin, dotMobi Director & W3C Co-Chair

Fair introduction 7 Sep 2009
By Jozef Kutej - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
The book is quite short - 102 A5 pages. It doesn't go into too much technical details. In my point of view it will be a good introduction chapter for a book about mobile web design. May be that the target audience is not developers but non-technical people, that will run away when faced bigger one.

There are a lot of links and web references. On one hand it's good, as one can go and investigate further, but book assumes that reader goes and really checks the pages. I buy "physical" books to read them while I'm travelling or when I'm somewhere off-line. Scratching the topic and then referring to a blog just keeps me upset because I can not check it right away. So I had to "re-read" the book, extract all the links that were interesting and check them out later.

Great book on mobile web design, doesn't cover advanced topics though... 24 Feb 2009
By M. Brandon Eley - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is an excellent beginner's guide to mobile development. While it doesn't cover advanced topics such as redirecting users to a mobile website, serving video, or JavaScript for advanced devices, it has an excellent introduction to mobile web design. It covers WAP, XHTML and CSS and the development process, how to test on different mobile devices, and even how to promote your mobile website.

If you're an experienced web designer and are interested in developing for mobile, I'd definitely recommend this book.

Nice compilation of material now available on the web 25 July 2010
By milo - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a nice little snapshot of the mobile world. But so much has happened in the time since this book was originally published that it is out of date. Also - you can find 90% of this book published word for word on the web.

Save your money unless a new edition is published.
