DVD Description

Mobile is a new conspiracy thriller which unfolds against the backdrop of the Iraq War and the corrupt world of the multi-billion pound mobile phone industry. It flashes back and forth to retrace events from the perspectives of three different people: the engineer, the soldier and the boss. Each episode features the same story told from a different viewpoint and only in the final scenes of the third episode is the shocking connection between all three stories made for the first time.

Synopsis

In Mobile an interconnecting story is told from three different viewpoints, each concerning a spate of attacks on mobile phone companies and users. The characters are Eddie Doig (Neil Fizmaurice, "Phoenix Nights"), a mobile phone engineer who has been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, a former soldier (Jamie Draven, "Billy Elliot"), whose wife and son were killed by car while the driver was using a mobile phone, and a communications magnate named David West (Michael Kitchen, "The World Is Not Enough"), who has lost his business and is grieving over his daughter'’s suicide.

4.0 out of 5 stars Who's using whom, 4 Nov 2008

Mobile was orignally a mini-series for ITV - and I missed it.

I was advised that it was a cracker and I wasn't mislead, just when you think you know what's happened you get a new perspective and suddenly realise that you were wrong.

The initial story appears to unfold against the backdrop of the world of the mobile phone industry, showing the stories of three different people involved. The engineer (who has cancer which he believes was caused by mobile phone use), the soldier (who's wife and baby were killed by a hit and run driver using his mobile) and the company boss.

Each film features the same story told from a different viewpoint and only in the final scenes of the third episode is the connection between all three stories made for the first time.

Enjoyable - but no extras

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent thriller!, 28 Mar 2008

This is a bargain of a buy that should be snapped up by anyone who likes intelligent plotlines with some great twists. The ending was fab!The whole show features a stellar British cast who moves this drama along and at a very crisp pace which keeps you gripped to the TV. It is not only overseas TV dramas that can do this. Cannot recommend this enough- not sure about carrying my mobile in the future though!

4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant and compelling story, 22 April 2008
By W. Hutchinson "whutchin2" (Perth, Australia) - See all my reviews

This suspenseful story is really very good with its twists and turns. It changes time frames with each episode but is easy to follow, and difficult to stop watching. I was reluctant to buy it as so many recent programmes seem to be full of loud grating noises - you know violins in the poignant bits and loud drums and eerie sounds in the suspenseful bits. There is a fair amount of that but it does not totally dominate the story even if it spoils it a lot of the time (hence the four star instead of five). However, it holds you in your seat as this tale of greed, betrayal and revenge unfolds. An added bonus is the shooting of an intolerable mobile phone user on the 'Quiet area' of a train. I suspect that scene gave many people satisfaction! It is a bargain at this price.
