Up and running in under 5 minutes. Just slotted the sim card into the dongle and plugged it into the usb port. Software self-installed (no cd needed) on my creaky old pentium 4 with Windows XP. Topping up using voucher (remember to convert the add-on!) is no problem. Basic 3g faster than my old adsl modem, gets even noticeably faster when catches the HSDPA signal. This is on the 3/5 bars signal power which is the norm for the 3 network in this area. I'd heard bad things about 3's signal (good when you start then deteriorates) but looks ok so far. The Amazon listing does not mention which model dongle it is, I received a Huawei E156G. Loses one star as it's a bit bulkier than I expected and Linux not listed as supported (though I understand works ok).

I had a previous 3 PAYG dongle which was not good at all and needed replacing 4 times due to a faulty port on it but this was not a straight USB connection and had to be connected via a cable.
I have always found 3 broadband to be very good, though I am lucky enough to live right next to an antenna!
I really like this dongle, its so easy to use and install but you must check coverage! It would seem fromm the feedback of friends is you either get a brillian coverage and speed or none at all so do your research first!
If you are in a good area then I would defintely recommend as its cheap, no contract and at the moment I get speeds of 3Mb plus!

It does what it says on the label and funny enough what I wanted it to. Inserted the sim card into dongle (ZTE MF112 supplied) and plugged it into the usb port. Software self-installed on trusty Samsung N10 Windows XP (no cd required and no problems). Worked instantly. Speed is equal to and often exceeds my AOL home broadband; especially when HSPDA kicks in (95% of the time). I'm in a fringe 3 network area and am absolutely delighted with the results. Previously, around 2 years+ ago, I'd heard negative comments regarding 3's signal. I understand they created a flexible partership with O2 for additional bandwith to be automatically supplied by O2 when 3's network became stressed. This may still be the case but as far as I'm concerned it works brilliantly. I can regularly get download speeds in excess of 200kbs which is not bad for something with a maximum bandwidth of 512k. This product is a bargain to buy, install and use. Three sent texts to my phone, keeping me informed throughout all stages of this process (nice touch). Happy I am :). This is the most useful and easiest bit of tech stuff I've had the pleasure to use.

Worked a month after purchase
Strange story with this one. I purchased it but it didnt work for like a month then poof I tried it and it worked. Yes I did top it up before any one thinks other wise.

Rubbish
i think this item is absolutely rubbish. You can never get connected to the internet and it is just a pane sticking out of your computer i am very dissapointed of this item.

Alot better than taking out a contract, as 3 are great at saying you took out a 24 month contact, irrespective if you took out an 12 or 18 month contract and then will put the onus... Read more
