"Mixing it up with Harry Potter" will help young people to delight in their faith and encourage them to see that a relationship with God is even more enchanting than a visit to Hogwarts! Each session is divided into five parts and includes photocopiable material: Beforehand (to help leaders prepare the session); Opening Activity (introducing the session to the young people in an interactive and fun format); Film Clip (a short clip from one of the Harry Potter films); Taking It Further (developing the theme and exploring it in greater depth); Bible Focus (a Bible verse that deals with the Christian perspective of the theme); and, Prayer Response (prayer activity drawing on the theme and giving space for response).

This book is an extremely imaginative resource for the teaching of RE, using 'The Simpsons' as a stimulus. Each lesson is clearly explained and well organised - enabling teachers to quickly develop a lesson around the theme. The book is in two sections, a 'lighter touch' set of lessons and a set looking at the issues in more depth.
All extracts in the book are from the same series of the programme, so costs can be kept down as only one DVD is required. Although flagged for use with church youth groups, the lessons work very well with children in Y6 and will add a new dimension to your RE teaching!
Highly recommended.
