A good book with plenty of illustrations and personal touches from the Spider,

i have been training Muay Thai for nearly two years, however still found this book useful. A lot of the emphasis is on Creating Dominant Angles of Attack, for which ideally you should be comfortable in being able to switch stance. numerous illustrations in both normal and southpaw stance show you how to achieve this.
i like some of the personal touches, i.e. how Anderson Silva was blown away by an technique he saw in the film Ong Bak, and was determined to use it in a fight. Despite his coaches saying it would be too hard to pull it off, he successfully used the elbow technique in a Cage Rage fight knocking out his opponent. Most Martial Arts books seem to either be an instructional Manuals, which can become quite heavy going and boring, or a straightforward autobiography. This book is a good blend between both, giving an insight into both the greatest MMA fighter on the planet and also guiding you through various techniques, some of which will already be familiar to Spider fans.

Good book, clear illustrations and full of useful tips that cover the basic Muay Thai strikes. This book does not show you the special and wonderful moves Anderson is now famous for, but if you are starting out as a striker and what to understand why footwork and stance is so important then this is the book for you. 4 Stars
