If your a Mitchell & Kenyon fan then this is essential.
There are two brilliant short movies from 1902, "Ride On A Tramcar Through Belfast" and "Tram Ride from King Street to Patricks Bridge" in Cork. The footage of Cork is of particular historic interest as much of the centre of the city was destroyed by the Black and Tans in 1920. A lot of the other movies are just as fascinating and the DVD is beautifully packaged with a 16 page informative booklet.
Having said that, and this is a personal opinion, throughout much of the dvd there is at times an irritating unnecessary sound track of screeching violin and and repetitive piano.
The DVD also misses the personal touch and brilliant commentary of Dan Cruikshank and some of the movies are of very poor quality, in some cases they seem almost damaged.
But credit must be given to the producers, historical contributors and British Film Institute for the preservation of these amazing visual recordings.
I would collect the other Mitchell and Kenyon releases first and then this to complete the series.
