5.0 out of 5 stars Real value for money 26 Mar 2008

The stories revolve around an investigative reporter (yes it must be an historic piece!) They are intelligent and enjoyable to watch. The nicest thing is that you do not feel like you have just been strained through a colander after you have watched each episode. Unlike the more contemporary shows where stress inducing sounds are prevalent all the time. These DVD's are well worth the money and give you nearly nine hours of good entertainment.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mitch 18 Feb 2008
Format:DVD
An Enjoyable 1982 outing for John Thaw as "newspaper man" Mitch the stories cover a variety of investigative journalism, for me in some respects it looked like a well toned down version of the final "Sweeney" series; diehards will notice John is even wearing one or two items of clothing that he wore as Regan, some dialogue is similar and a some of the character actors that stared in the Sweeney turn up in new roles.

Still an enjoyable three disc set with David Calder in a good supporting role - recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Unexpectededly interesting 8 Nov 2013

This has not been shown on Auatralian TV for what reason it is hard to know. Shows how different it is to be a journalist investigating crime compared to how a detectuve such as Morse tackles the same sort of crimes
