I have read all of the Hawkenlye series and now I am reading the Aelf Fen series, and I have to say I am enjoying them as much if not more, I love the characters and soon got into Lassair and her family and friends, for me Alys Clare is without a doubt my favourite author, I love her style of writing, the only problem is I cannot put her books down so I read them so quickly that I am sad when I finish one,and then I cant wait for the next one to be published, which is where I am at the moment. I would recommend this book to any one.Also I would recommend readers to the first book in the Aelf Fen series which is titled Out of the Dawn Light. Joyce Travers

'Mist Over The Water' is a brilliantly engaging read from start to finish, with plenty of unanswered questions and wounds left over from the turbulent past of a conquered land to keep you turning pages. The spiritual element wisping its way through might not be to everyone's taste, but personally I think it's done skillfully enough not to spoil anything, and of course, many thought for centuries that anyone with healing hands must have some sort of mystical power. It gets five stars because of its location and the personal interest in this area. An excellent read. I will be looking for more from this series.

NOT a historical mystery

An apprentice healer spends more time on magical rituals than herbs.
I skipped the first book in this series because I don't like phony supernatural tales. Unfortunately, this one wasn't any better - it is NOT a historical mystery, it's woo-woo gibberish. I quit very quickly.
