I am surprised by the lack of such authors of the short story form as Ali Smith, A. L. Kennedy, James Kelman, Bernard MacLaverty, Rob Shearman, and Anna Donovan. I'm pretty sure they're British, too.
What this collection seems to have done is pick authors of reknown from the world of the novel and even poetry.
I grant you there are certainly many heavy weights in this anthology, but there are equally heavy omissions.
Poor show.
