Product Description

Revised Second Edition:

Debt collector Matt Spears isn't having a good day. He's being framed by the cops over an alleged assault and has inexplicably found himself indebted to the blind, but ruthless gangster, Vincent Barbour. When Barbour’s supposedly dead niece, Emma, surfaces in a graphic sexual video on a porn site, he asks Matt to find her in exchange for wiping the slate clean. Within a matter of hours, Matt is plunged into a world of sex, blackmail and murder. Trying to unravel the mysteries of a troubled young girl's disappearance, he discovers the dark side of the porn industry, complicated family secrets, government  corruption, sadistic gangsters, and narcissistic celebrities who all come together to find a girl who is simply ... missing.

The sequel to 'Missing' is 'As the Sun turns Black' also available at Amazon and other good book sellers.

REVIEW

"Missing" is an amazing roller coaster ride! It kept me on my toes from the first page to the last! The more I read, the more entrenched I got in the intrigue of this tense murder mystery thriller. Rich in mystery, steeped in suspense, and laced with provocative sex, "Missing" is one read you don't want to miss!

AUTHORS NOTE
Although I live in Southern California this novel is set in the North West of England, where I'm from - Manchester. I think it's fair to warn potential readers that although a lot of British phraseology is used, this is a gritty crime drama and is closer to the work of Quentin Tarantino than Agatha Christie. I don't want people to buy this and be left feeling disappointed because there wasn't enough foggy moors, country pubs or old jags ... you've been warned.

3.0 out of 5 stars When did Manchester migrate to the USA? 5 Nov 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Yep, I share the majority view that this was a page turner and had plenty of action to take ones mind off other things, however, it was clearly written in 'American'! The premise of the book is a clever one - no good blind hood blackmailing an 'honest debt collector' to find his long lost 'daughter' - and the word interplay between the main characters is mildly amusing if somewhat contrived. If you can get over the 'Amerislang' and the feeling that the action should be taking place in Chicago or Detroit rather than good old Manchester then the story unfolds pretty breathlessly. As with many authors who contribute within this genre the 'goodie' is always tall, chiselled, attractive to beautiful women and as strong as a bull with a brain the size of a small planet and this one is no different - does make you wonder why, with all those atributes, he's fannying around in the debt collection business though! The 'who's the real father' plot line was pretty thin and it doesn't take much working out which is a shame as it tainted the plausibility of the tail from about halfway through. Nonetheless, if you want something to moderately entertain and/or amuse you whilst lying on the beach this book will, most likely, do it without taxing you too much. Just don't imagine that Manchester is as exciting as this book suggests - I promise you it isn't (sad to say!)

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheap. 21 April 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I just could not get into this book at all. It was a real struggle from start to finish. It was full of old, worn out one liners and the plot just didn't make any sense to me. Other reviews were all positive, which is why I went for it. I usually end up agreeing with the positive reviews rather than the negative ones but not in this case. The plot was not at all fast moving or gripping, it was almost boring. The book was cheap but that was it's only saving grace.
