Every now and again I come across an album that stands out from others. Not because it has infectious strong tunes or the lyrics relate to what ever emotional state of mind I have at the time. No, the album shines because of it's pure beauty; this is one of those albums. No one track is better than any of the others they are all wonderful relaxing pieces of instrumental gold. If the strains of the day seem like they are too much put this CD on in the car (or whatever music player you have) on your way home from work and let the calming process begin. Then if you are still tense when you get home sit down, switch off your phone and play it again. Let it be like a musical shoulder rub.

A delight 23 Mar 2010
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
This was a delightful find and confirms that Anthony Phillips is a musician of the highest quality. His playing is so gentle and stands up so well against the obvious comparison of Steve Hackett. If you enjoy quieter and more reflective this is one for you.

Mark this Anthony! 4 Dec 2009
Format:Audio CD
If you like your music a bit on the tabasco side, then this album is not for you.
This is a hamper well stocked, however, with rich, seasoned cold meats and relishes. Hints of drama and exoticism, postcards from warmer climes, introspective moments of genuine beauty and pathos.
Nice tunes, kind of canal holiday for the soul whilst not forgetting life's little tragedies en route.

"Irish Lament" is quite beautiful.
Loved "Sceptered Isle". Is that how its spelt? Looks very American to me? Maybe thats a clue to Anthony Phillips. Is he some new age wanderer washed up in Malibu? Surely not!

This royal throne of kings, this sceptred isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war.

Very nice. And I use the word Nice in the nicest possible way.
