Book Description

6 Mar 2012
(www.canammissing.com) People have been disappearing under mysterious circumstances for centuries. During the last 150 years the media has covered many of these cases and has attempted to put a rational spin on a very unusual event. After 3+ years and 7000 hours of intensive research there is a new paradigm being presented on people missing in the wilds of North America. “Missing 411” identifies 28 clusters of missing people who have vanished in remote areas of the continent. The finding is a troubling fact questioning why and how these people have disappeared. Some of the victims are found and tell a very interesting and mind bending story of their experience, others are never found, a fact that confounds searchers and law enforcement. There are many children that have disappeared under highly unusual circumstances. After weeks of searching and failing to find any evidence of the child being in a remote location, many parents and law enforcement draw the conclusion that the victim was kidnapped, yes, taken by someone lurking in remote areas of our national parks, forests, farms and even ranches. There are two editions of this research, “Missing 411-Eastern United States” and “Missing 411-Western United States.” The eastern United States copy has a list of every person who is listed in each book as well as a final conclusion to the investigation. You will be shocked by the lack of interest and documentation that many of our governmental bodies have committed to missing people. After reading these books you will never look at our wildlands the same. Chapters; 1.Introduction 1A. Clusters 1B. Unique Factors in Disappearances 2. Missing People 3. Index "Major news organizations do a deplorable job of covering major stories and issues which are deemed too unusual or too far outside the box. Chances are, they will find a way to trivialize or ignore the disturbing evidence accumulated by David Paulides, a former law man turned investigative journalist. The paper trail uncovered by Paulides through sheer doggedness is impressive, the evidence indisputable. People are vanishing without a trace from our national parks and forests, yet government agencies are saying nothing. At a minimum, this story deserves space on the front page of every newspaper in the country, and it warrants a formal high level inquiry by the federal agencies whose files leave little doubt that something very strange is unfolding in our wilderness." George Knapp, Host, Coast to Coast AM

5.0 out of 5 stars A fascinating and disturbing book 7 April 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I have the Western United States edition and had to buy this edition. They're two of the very few books that have caused me to lie awake thinking about them after I've put them down. Make no judgement about what the subject matter may be related to, draw no conclusions until you have read both of them. The stories in here are awful, tragic cases of families devastated by seemingly explainable events. You'll find yourself repeating them to your family, friends and loved ones. You'll want to share these tales because they seem so baffling. Some of them, most of them, have the hairs on the back of your neck tingling. There are some which are absolutely terrifying. I've just ordered the latest installment as well. They're pricey, but extremely worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb! EVERYONE should read this! 28 Jan 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I have just finished reading these two fantastic 'Missing 411' books. As soon as I received them from Amazon I was not able to put them down! I finished both in a weekend and am now re-reading them both. Both books are exceptionally well written, exceptionally well researched and deserve a vast amount more publicity than they are getting. The true scale of these strange disapearances is staggering! That this can have been going on for so long without a major investigation absolutely beggars belief! I advise everyone to read these books expecially if you, your family or friends have suffered the awful experience of someone you love going missing in the wilderness. These books should probably be distributed to search and rescue personell as part of mandatory training. I feel that the authors and investigators deserve an award for the (what must have been) thousands of hours of work in bringing all this together. It also highlights the tireless efforts of search and rescue personell in their continuing drive to find these people. I cannot rate this item highly enough and am looking forward to (hopefully) the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even better 4 Jun 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The second book is even more compelling than the first. I read it twice back to back to make sure I didn't miss a thing. Paulides almost gets close to reveling what he thinks is responsible for all these mysterious disappearances and then backs off. I would love to know what he thinks as I can't make up my mind! There seem to be at least explanations for just what is going on.

A great read that will have you telling everyone about it!
