5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous colour, rhythm and rhyme 18 Jun 2002
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
This book is full of bright arresting pictures, supported by clever and witty verse. Not only does it help children to count, it introduces them to the beauty of poetry. It will appeal to toddlers and young children, as a book which is read to them, while involving them in the counting process and increasing their vocabulary. As a thoroughly engaging read, children will request this story time and again, soon memorising the verse and enjoying 'reading' it to themselves.

5.0 out of 5 stars A nice book for kids 7 Jun 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a very pretty book. A friendly Miss Spider who is both loving and giving. This book can appeal to many children who like nature and magical things. It may also ease the phobia of spiders? The artwork of Miss Spider book is lovely. Yes it's full of bright colours by the way although it's gentle on the eyes, with pictures showing lots of shading and warm hues. Imagine a vibrant flowery garden beneath trees, or at night time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute book, but... 21 April 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this to read in my son's preschool class (2-3 year olds). They had been learning about Insects, so I thought this might be something to keep their attention well. I bought it without reading it in advance and I'm not sure I would have bought it if I had. Although Miss Spider is nice and tries to invite different insects for tea.. who all refuse at first, but then end up obliging.. it didn't seem to keep the kids attention. The colorful pictures were nice, so we ended up talking more about what they saw on the pages and less about the actual story. I think the wordiness or font.. or something just was not pleasing. In the end, I think the kids are the best judge. They weren't huge fans.
