More About the Author
Dr. Timothy Paul Jones is a CBA bestselling and award-winning author, scholar, and professor of leadership and church ministry at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he coordinates family ministry programs and serves as editor of The Journal of Family Ministry. He has earned the Bachelor of Arts in biblical studies, a Master of Divinity with focus in church history and New Testament, as well as the Doctor of Philosophy degree. He has authored, coauthored, or contributed to more than a dozen books.
Previously, Dr. Jones served as senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Rolling Hills in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He has taught biblical languages at Oklahoma Baptist University's Ministry Training Institute and served as visiting professor of Greek at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. Jones has also contributed numerous articles to popular ministry magazines and academic journals such as Discipleship Journal, Preaching: The Professional Journal for Pastors, Proclaim: The Journal for Biblical Preaching, Leading Adults, Religious Education Journal, Christian Education Journal, Perspectives in Religious Studies, Bibliotheca Sacra, Midwestern Journal of Theology, and many others. Dr. Jones has written nearly 200 articles for two well-regarded reference works, Nelson's Dictionary of Christianity and Nelson's New Christian Dictionary. Dr. Jones has also been the recipient of the prestigious Baker Book House Award in Theological Studies and the NAPCE Scholastic Recognition Award.
Despite his strong academic pedigree, Dr. Jones has shown a unique ability to communicate with an appealing, reader-accessible style that has made him popular with the masses through books such as his CBA-bestselling The Da Vinci Codebreaker (coauthored with James Garlow) and the pop culture devotional exploration, Finding God in a Galaxy Far Far Away. Dr. Jones is a regular guest on the weekly talk-show Moral Side of the News, the longest-running community-service television program in North America. He has also been featured on Fox News and on WGN, commenting on religious issues in the news.
