Product Description

Marcia Muller Author of THE EVER-RUNNING MAN (Sharon McCone Mysteries)

A fine novel from a fine writer. By framing the story within the making of The Misfits, Knight provides unique insights into the characters of Marilyn Monroe, Arthur Miller, and other enigmatic personae of their times.

Loren D. Estleman, author of LITTLE BLACK DRESS

"Arthur Winfield Knight is one of our greatest storytellers. He makes the weighty stuff of history stand on its hind legs and dance, and his characters, whether made by God or by Knight, are as hard to leave behind at book's end as a house filled with close friends. I'm a fan to the death."

5.0 out of 5 stars Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, Montgomery Clift, and John Huston brought to life!, 24 April 2008
By Bill Pullman "Book reviewer" (USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
"Misfits Country" is a fascinating look behind the scenes of the making of the movie "The Misfits" and is a must have for all movie fans, but especially fans of Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, Montgomery Clift, and John Huston. Though historical fiction you can tell the author knows his subject matter, and he is able to breath life into these iconic Hollywood figures. For Monroe and Gable this would be there last film. This classic movie, was not well received by the public at the time but looking back it is seen as a signpost of change to come. The setting in Reno brought back nostalgic memories of my trips to the "Biggest little city in the world" back in the 1960's, it was a different place back then. The real strength of the book however is the portrayal of the central characters. The author is able to climb into these personalities minds and bring them to life, in the wrong hands this could have been a disaster. It maybe fiction but there is a lot of truth here.
