Book Description

Tony Ross and Jeanne Willis at their irrepressible best with a heart-warming story about overcoming bad moods.

Product Description

There was once a cow who was always miserable, and a lamb who tried to cheer her up. But the cow was impossible to cheer up! Even Father Christmas was too jolly for her. The poor lamb burst into tears himself, and wallowed in misery. Finally the cow started to miss him, and gave him the best birthday present ever - a great big grin!

Format:Paperback
This is a brilliant book with smashing illustrations. In a nutshell, there was once a miserable old cow and a little lamb who tried his hardest to cheer her up, to no avail. There are parties, acrobatics and gallons of very very funny pictures by Tony Ross which my children think are hysterical. However, the cow is so miserable she can't see the good in anything so the lamb finally gives up. Once he's gone, the cow misses him terribly so she tracks him down for the inevitable happy ever after. This is an absolutely brilliant book to help children understand about being a grump, about looking on the bright side of life, and ultimately about being friends and the value of friends. And quite aside from all these handy subliminal messages, it's simply a very funny book which you'll all be picking off the shelf time and time again. Buy!

Grandma loves cows so will always read them and this one is good. Grandson has no choice but has to persuade adult to read to him so books that appeal to the reader will be read and Jeanne Willis is really good.

A very amusing children's book that appeals to my sense of humour! The illustrations are great and the story is lovely. It has become a storytime favourite.
