Quite simply 'Mischief Night' is a hidden gem of the British film industry. The story will captivate you, its frankness will astound you and the performances dazzle without exception. The pace of the film is fantastic - and it is accompanied by a melodic soundtrack, that like the film is a unique mix of east and west - as only can be found in the UK. Penny Woolcock deserves many more plaudits than she recieved for this film - the direction is inspired, and Robbie Ryan's cinematography is saturated with colour - leaving us wondering what fantasy world we may have found ourselves in. This is essentially the funniest British film I have seen for many, many years - it leaves other films of this genre - Bend it like Beckham, East is East amongst them - standing at the start line. This is a fantastic movie!!
