Review

I have personally experienced the miraculous healing power of past life regression as taught by Dr Brian Weiss. I AM a believer and Brian has been a great teacher and mentor in my life. (Wayne W. Dyer, PhD)

Brian Weiss reminds us that: 'We are a soul that comes with a body - not a body that comes with a soul.' (John Holland, Spiritual Teacher & Psychic Medium) --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

This book comes with a free CD that can take you on a relaxed journey back in time. First to your childhood and then to a time before. If you, like so many people, are searching to make sense of this confusing and complicated world and, if you want to explore the concept of reincarnation, buy this book, use the CD and see for yourself that there REALLY IS life before life before life before life before life etc

My Australian friend borrowed this CD and went back to a life in Scotland. She found herself wearing a kilt and walking through the pine woods, smelling the damp earth and feeling sad. Amazingly she has always had a soft spot for and a real affinity with Scottish people ('Scotties' as she calls them!) - what do you think? Coincidence? Or time to buy this book and see for yourself!

Brian Weiss is overly wordy as a previous reviewer commented and this becomes more of a distraction than assistance i trying to relax, unless you find it exceptionally easy to switch off, and allow the words to flow over you. This CD is a bit too rich in New Age 'isms, and strays away from a single purpose. In this sense its influence is diluted. The other CD's on regression however are interesting in their effects and are worth persisting with. It is quite normal to fall asleep during this recordings. The mind is fully interactive with or without your conscious involvement.
A few too many words and some irritating background sounds spoil what would otherwise be an interesting experience in this instance.
As an addendum, it is safe to use, there are no subliminal messages nor occult intentions. It is a useful tool for learning the art of relaxation of body and mind/brain.

I really enjoyed reading this book, I could not put down for a couple of days. I gave it four stars, because I was left wanting to know more about past lives, perhaps I should read some more of Brian Weiss's books. I have tried the CD a couple of times now, but each time I fell asleep, better luck next time.

I bought this book for the CD, having heard of Mr Weiss and his fascination on past lives. The cd starts well, with some relaxation which is nice but I find too short, he is already going into the regression when I am still yawning my head off (releasing the day's tensions) trying to relax and having only reached my neck muscles.
After that, the regression is nice but again too short, there isn't enough space without words also to let memories come through - more silence when for example getting to choose one mirror to go through, and then once in, more silence, at least 3-4 minutes, to allow the memory to develop. His voice is beautiful and soothing, not "whiny" as another reviewer suggests, and his advice is very helpful.
My problem with this lies in I got to the downstairs garden (I didn't want to go downstairs as I knew it was unpleasant) and when I opened the door to the garden, a very strange spectacle was in front of my eyes: an overgrown garden with all tall walls surrounding it, so it felt like a cage, a prison: I couldn't go very much further than that due to the feeling this brought. Anyway, great cd, and I might try one of his others, hoping they might be a bit more open, long and spacious.

Brian L. Weiss' `Mirrors of Time' is most definitely not a product I would recommend. The guided meditation cd in particular is really bad, indeed it is really annoying. I personally did not find his voice soothing at all. Added to which he kept interrupting with unnecessary bits of information, ie, when instructing to relax the different muscles of the body, he would add comments such as "people with headaches carry a great deal of tension" or "people who walk around with the weight of the world on their shoulders have tightness and tension in these [shoulder] muscles". These irrelevancies in my opinion are unnecessary interruptions to the attempt at relaxation. But far worse is the continuing high pitched whiney noise almost the entire way throughout. I can only liken it to when my baby sister got a cheap keyboard for her birthday one year and took great pleasure from just pressing one key for ages! Very irritating, but at least she had the excuse of being only 7 years of age.
The accompanying book is not much better, although it does give a transcript of the guided meditation, perhaps in order to allow you to pinpoint your own personal most annoying bits. Apart from that, it is more about the author putting across his `sales pitch' talking about all the people he has helped. He also claims that by doing his regression exercises often you can "[find]... the motivation and willpower to lose weight, give up alcohol and drugs, and quit smoking....." This is some claim! Again this is just my opinion, but I really do not see how this particular material could help with any of these things.
If you are looking for help with guided meditation/regression etc, there are surely much better products available.

I bought this for someone who thinks hypnosis makes you cluck like a chicken, in other words, an absolute beginner. Still, I think regression is just what he needs, so he gets it for his birthday. Easy to understand and you just need to lie back and relax.
