Product Description

When Miranda finds herself fighting for her home, her job and her heart, sleeping with the enemy may not be the best tactic...

With no family of her own, Miranda Marshall has developed a healthy respect - some would say obsession - with other people's histories. As property manager of a spectacular island castle in Cornwall, she's made St Merryn's Mount one of the UK's most popular heritage attractions. While she may have the castle running like clockwork, Miranda hasn't bargained on its sexy owner returning to claim his birthright.

Dark, handsome and with a rakish reputation, Jago St Merryn not only looks like a pirate but is intent on flogging the Mount to a soulless leisure corporation. Miranda faces the battle of her life as she tries to persuade him to face up to his past and continue the St Merryn dynasty. But Jago has his own reasons for jumping ship and when he throws down the gauntlet to Miranda, she's forced to delve into painful memories she'd much rather keep hidden . . .

4.0 out of 5 stars Sexy, cheeky, edgy. 31 Jan 2013
By J.R.W.
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a very contemporary novel with super sharp writing and played out in a quaint, unusual setting. Cornwall makes a great backdrop to this romance and the author created a good atmosphere with not only the landscape but all the historical props too, which contrasted well with the modern feel. An unusual setting, in that our heroine works for a Cornish estate which happens to be a rocky mount, accessible only by a causeway.
Old lady Merryn decides to sell up, and all seems lost; but then handsome son Jago, returns to oversee the sale. Can Miranda persuade him to embrace not only his rightful inheritance, but maybe herself too?
On the one hand, this has all the expected ingredients of the chick lit genre, but on the other, it is so much more. This is very much a lighthearted, funny book but it is also very grown-up. It is sexy, cheeky and edgy. And there is another layer under the humour too, which gives the main players some depth and adds another dimension to the plot.
I admit I was initially a little put off by the cover and the title of this book, and for me, it began a little on the slow side. But the quality of the writing whisked me past all of the that, and the sexual tension was kept fizzing almost to the very end.
Very enjoyable and a very big beefy 4 star rating for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Indulge - It's Worth It 29 Oct 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am pretty choosy about my romantic fiction and I enjoyed this book immensely - it has humour, a love affair that sweeps you along and great stand-out scenes. I was admittedly already a fan of Phillipa Ashley - she wowed me with Decent Exposure and so I became a fan of her fab hero-creating ability. She has not disappointed me in this. Fever Cure was, I'd thought, her best hero yet (all the more enticing for the extra steam!!)
But I'm revising that now because Miranda's Mount is definitely her best book yet with her very best hero. It also has a heroine who I wanted to slip into the shoes of. I was sad to get to the end - but then, that's the sign of a good book, isn't it? An escapist romance read that's well worth picking up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Philipa Ashley's Best to Date!! 21 Oct 2012
By Suzanne
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have loved every one of Philipa Ashley's books. She just keeps getting better and better; not just the writing but the intensity and drama that is filled in her stories.

Humerous, Jam packed with sex yet emotional and perfectly written. Miranda's Mount is filled with moment's of laughter and joy as well as sadness that is brilliantly written. She potrays both main characters so well. Phillipa Ashley has a way of creating heroes like no other author. Ones that are able to hook you to the book from start to finish. In this story, Jago and Miranda meet under unusual circumstances. I thought the knicker incident in Fever Cure was an embarrassing introduction but Jago and Miranda certainly make that seem normal in comparison.

As much as I was really looking forward to Phillipa Ashley's new release, I honestly thought she couldn't top herself after 'Fever Cure' as I still read that many times as I love it. However, I was wrong. She has outdone herself once again.

This is definately a must read!!! Miranda's Mount is fantastic!

...Must also be good with a sword! OK, so where can I get one? Ebay? Amazon? Boy, do I need me a lifesize, fully-functioning Jago St. Merryn, complete with breeches, boots, cutlass and piratical gleam in his eye! :D

I loved this book. It's my favourite of Ms. Ashley's to date, and I've enjoyed all her previous releases. Miranda's Mount has Phillipa Ashley's trademark humour, snappy dialogue and fast pacing, but there is extra emotional depth here too. The setting (based on St. Michael's Mount in Cornwall) is fabulous - mystical, magical, timeless and steeped in legend and myth. Like me, the heroine, Miranda, feels the incredible history of such places so I really connected with her fierce affection and loyalty to St. Merryn's Mount. She's also feisty, principled and has a lively imagination - a great heroine.

But Jago...*phew..fans self* Jago is a perfect hero. How can you not love an intelligent modern bloke who is sexy as hell and dresses up as a pirate?! Jago doesn't take himself too seriously and he plays up to Miranda's imagination. And devastatingly good at it he is too which results in some memorable and sexy scenes ;0)

The chemistry between Jago and Miranda sizzles, despite the personal and professional conflicts that threaten to snuff out their romance before it has chance to sail off into a Cornish sunset.

Ms. Ashley's writing really sparkles here. Miranda's Mount is a wonderful read. If only I could find a real-life Jago I'd be a happy bunny!
