I think Miranda Hart herself was a little worried about this second series, not really knowing if the public would be as thrilled the second time round. It was logical that she should be. Last year she surprised most in offering a sit com that hadn't been done for years and that many (me among them) found pure comic genius.I just adored her character, so full of human frailties, so full of warmth. When I sat in front of the first episode I must admit I thought to myself 'Can she do it again? Has she had time to garner some new ideas and make a show that will be both similar to the old one in everything we love about it but that will also spring some good surprises?' The first two shows, although they contained some great moments made me fear the second series would be inferior but then... came episode three... I must have watched it twenty times at least by now and it still makes me laugh. I can't tire of it. From the moment Miranda and Gary stepped into that posh restaurant and from the moment I saw Miranda's face after Gary suggested they should give it a try it was firework after firework of sheer enjoyment, from the fire, to the burps, to the 'al dente' moment, to the bees, to the wax trapped Miranda, to the stallions in her flat, to her mother's "Go Miranda".... it must have been 20 years since I laughed that much.... Simply brilliant!! Yes, of course, the episode with the psychologist is the weakest but on the whole, Miranda Hart has managed to do what I thought she couldn't... she has surpassed herself! And as long as she is willing to lull us with that wonderful voice of hers, I will be willing to listen...
