The personal dash cam with GPS for vehicle road accident recording
MiVue 388 has an integrated GPS receiver that enables tracking of the routes covered: capturing the image, direction, speed and geographical coordinates and then synchronising them with Google Maps. New in this model is the safety camera alerts, with the free unlimited updates for life. Additionally, MiVue 388 comes with a revolving mounting cradle that allows you to position the video camera in any direction as well as an anti-flash lens filter.
Rechargable Lithium Battery 470mAH
The integrated 470 mAh battery allows you to take the device out of the vehicle to capture photos.
When the G-sensor detects sudden motion, MiVue will save and lock the event recording to protect it from being deleted/overwritten.
Event recording mode
Record critical moments with the Event Recording Mode. When the 3-axis G-Ssensor detects an event of sudden changes in motion, MiVue instantly saves a protected files for future analysis.
Speed Camera Alerts
Drive confidently with safety camera alerts, which tells you the location of speed cameras along the road. MiVue 388 will play alert sounds and the visual warning when approaching the speed camera. Keep the data accurate with free updates every month, available from mio.com.
With the latest motion detection technology, MiVue can automatically activate and record videos when a motion is detected near the front of the vehicle. It helps collect evidence even when you are not in the car.
Track your position wherever you go. The built-in highly sensitivity GPS receiver automatically records your driving information in the video, including speed, altitude, longitude, latitude & heading.

Like one of the other reviewers has commented, the calendar and time function will not retain when configured and defaults. Oddly enough a different time and date to that programmed in memory is recorded along with the footage. This makes me suspect a firmware issue. I have the latest firmware installed and have reinstalled it again but the problem still persists?
I tried to call Mio support but no response, I have repeatedly emailed my issue to the support team again no response so I am reluctantly returning my unit for a refund (not Amazon).
Would I accept a replacement? probably not the device is a little on the large side and cannot be hidden inconspicuously. It is reminiscent of a sat-nav perched on the screen.
Just to say I have since purchased the Mio Mivue 518 and the Firmware is just so much better and has none of the issues I reported on this review. It cost me half the price of the 388 but lacks the speed camera warnings. This did not concern me and other models are available with this feature available.
Continuous recording on any trip to date has been about 50mins then it turns off and you loose large chunks of the trip, not a lot of good if you cannot go between A_B without it recording, or worse having to turn it back on every 20 mins or so whilst bombing up the M4.
As for the safety camera it hasn't worked yet even when I deliberately drive past a camera.
Waste of money, avoid, there must be better

This device works very well, is easy to use and I have not had any problems with the suction on the window as others have reported. Read morePublished 19 months ago by E Nattress
